:p: i can't stand that liquid, 1 dollar for 16 oz yet we get charged $4+, just like i wont ever smoke a cigarette it takes $.01 to make yet they charge an observed amount, also why i stopped drinking and buy water in gallons opposed to bottled (look at the price difference)

My job has a Flavia coffee machine. Flavored coffee by the gallon. It's not Starbucks, but it's free.

I don't know exactly where they are but I imagine they're right close to the cap now. They'll have to restructure some folks if they wind up needing the cash in order to pick someone up later if there are any more significant injuries.

The thing I didn't realize, until I was watching the Zorn thing on NFL.com was that they lost Phillips AND another DE, I guess his backup, for the entire year. The guy behind him ruptured his achilles and will also be out for the year now. Tough losses to take so early in camp.

Taylor costs 10 mil vs. the cap this year (8 mil salary and roster bonus, 2 mil signing bonus pro-rated).
As of mid-june, the Skins had 7-8 or so million of cap space (not a number shown by the NFL officially, but looking at a couple of good skins cap sites, they seem to be rather close).

I don't think the roster bonus carries over unless it hasn't been paid out yet.

The signing bonus (prorated) doesn't carry over unless it is part of a contract from the skins.

So unless the Skins signed him to a new contract, all that should count is Taylor's base salary.

10-pack: Breaking down the Jason Taylor trade

Posted: July 20, 2008

The Miami Dolphins finally have managed to unload defensive end Jason Taylor, sending him to the Washington Commanders for a second-round pick in 2009 and a sixth-rounder in 2010.

1. No Brett Favre for Washington. The Commanders uncharacteristically had $8 million in cap space as of Sunday morning. As of Sunday night, that was more than enough to absorb Taylor's $7.5 million base salary for 2008. But now the 'Skins are left with less than $1 million to sign future replacements. As a practical matter, they'd have a hard time squeezing Brett Favre's $12 million salary under the current spending limit. Even if Favre agreed to a steep pay cut, the 'Skins would have to scramble to create cap space.

The red highlighted section is their charged amount.

The Skins aren't left with much moving room.

Yelp, they're a little bit tight. But I think Willow (Danny boy Snider) can loosen them up a little bit. :D

well, there is still hope, since from what one guy posted, taylors cap hit was 7.5, then the Commanders have only 500,000 cap left,

of course,, they already have signed their draft picks, they will need about 250,000 for practice squad etc, or 200,000 so that leaves them probaby with about 400,000 to be on the safe side, not much to go get someone if a another player goes down;

one person talked about them resigning players, but the ones that they generally resign like jon jansen, portis,, etc, are up to the cap hit now, and they refused last time to resign, due to what the Commanders did to one of their former linebackers a few years ago.

so, now if a player does go down, they maybe in serious trouble; then you add in that they have are right about at 129 million or something like that for 2009, this extra hit with taylor puts them over that even further, and the salary cap for 2009 is to be reported at 123 million, so they are already 6 million to 13 million over the cap hit for 2009.

so looking at it, the Commanders took a hit this year for a quick run at super bowl this year, so for the long run, they are in serious trouble

while we the cowboys are set with great cap space till about 2011 or 2012, we can make some serious runs at super bowls till about 2012, while the Commanders finally will have to eat that cap pretty soon;

sooner or later, they will have to eat the cap just like the cowboys did in 2000 to 2003.

If the bonus was part of the original contract that Taylor signed with Miami, the Dolphins have to eat that part of the cap. Unless Snyder gave Taylor an additional bonus, Taylor's cap hit for the Commanders is just the salary and roster bonus.

Don't count on it. Fans have been saying that the last 4 years, and year after year the skins make it.

What you can count on though, is them sucking sooner or later. It's inevitable for there franchise.

Correct, Taylors roster bonus was already paid before he came to washington.
