Guys, change is coming Jerry Jones said

TO is a "yeah, but" player this season. He has 12 touchdowns "but..."

But it seems like a lot of people are just focusing on the "but" at this point. It gets overlooked that he has three touchdowns in the last two games, or that he helped spark the offense against Atlanta, etc.

Like I said above, the impact he HAS made shouldn't be denied -- nor should the obvious missed opportunities he has singularly created. But it seems like one or the other always gets lost in the shuffle though.

And for as well as I thought he played against Atlanta, that game was a team victory. It wasn't about him and his touchdowns. It was about a team rebounding and playing sharply. Rightfully so, no one single-handedly pointed him out as the team's savior, despite the two difficult scores that no one else on this team could have made.

Yet he drops a ball in a game filled with potential momentum changers gone by the wayside, and many are so eagerly prepared and willing to point the finger solely, by and large, at him.

I just think it's a skewed perspective. I realize he's a lightning rod, but why is so much made about him in losses? He's not the only highly-paid "super star" underperforming in the Cowboys' losses. It's difficult to name many that have played well in such games.

Well than why is one guy getting more cash than the other guy?

Since when is it ok to make a mistake just cuz so and so player doesn't make a lot of money?

mistakes are gonna be made by everyone...

but to answer Dale's question as to why Hoyte isn't getting flack

A rookie that has changed positions from LB to FB (like 5 or 6 games ago(not exactly sure of the time frame Rack but you get the point no doubt)) and is making absolute minimum gets a bit of break... more than someone who is a double digit veteran and has a very high salary...those double digit veterans are expected to be clutch...if they aren't than you might as well go with something younger and cheaper and spend your cap dollars elsewhere.

After listening to the interview, I think you GROZers can sleep well. Jerry sounded furious about the defensive effort and pointed out that he knows he has better talent there than what we've shown... All while praising Sparano and co. for consistently moving the ball.

He also did sound disappointed and unhappy with Owens. That surprised me.

Jerry has the right to be PO'd. He clearly fired shots at every one in the organization. Jerry's biggest problem to me (just my opinion) is that he forgets years catch up with players, different situations change players.
You don't always get what you saw last season, or the season before.

What about the big drop in the Washington game? We'd be 10-5 now and leading the division if he'd caught that one and scored like he should have.

No one knows that for sure, and in any event, if Witten had been able to block on the FG, we would be 10-5 anyway.

Again, Why would T.O. go?, He's having the best year a Cowboys WR has ever had. If your worried about his antics, try what Parcells does and Ingnore them.

1st time I am watching ESPN since the lost and TO is headlining the NFL Live show.

NO WAY!

"Dissension in Dallas?" is the topic.

Now I remember why I avoided BSPN for the past couple days.

After reading the 10 pages of this thread I will say this.

I don't think TO can catch the quick slant more than 50% of the time - he is just not catching the ball with his fingers and it is not going to work trying to catch with your palms.

He was interfered with on the deep pass which he dropped - actually illegal contact early and pushing late) should have caught it but it was not easy like the Washington game.

Single players in team sports do turn the momentum of the game and end up costing games. TO drop in the Washington game was the key play in that game at that point in time - I do believe it would have won the game for us.

Problem in the Philly game was that there were a bunch of those key plays that took the heart out of the team.

#1 - Fumbled kickoff
#2 - the decision to not kick the FG
#3 - the play call on 4th and goal
#4 - the missed block by Witten
#5 - the screwup by Burnett
#6 - the drops - I say plural because To was not the only one.

But most of all, the inability to get pressure on the QB took the heart out of this team. They just could not get them off the field enough. Philly did not punt until the middle of the 3rd Qtr - that is just not going to get it done.

The NFL is so much about momentum and we, every time it was there for the taking, whiffed on it.

This game, as dissapointing as it was could have very well been a win for us but you cannot have that many coaching and player errors and even think of being in the game!
I personally can't shake the disgust of 3 7:00+ drives. 4 drives of 75yds+ (89, 89, 77, 80 = 20pts). It wasn't big plays that killed this defense... it was those long slow grinding drives. The typical bend but don't break defense broke.

but that was just one part... your list is dead on. And as much as I like Witten...that's the 2nd time his missed block has cost Dallas a potential score

and yet.....60% of our championships come from one Jerry Jones.

Way to think for yourself.

Baaa.

I agree. Jerry has a better track record than most other owners, if not all. He certainly has made a lot of mistakes, and his ego if as big as any, but he is a winner, and he expects those people he hires to be winners. Parcells has let him down, as has T.O.

Listening to Jerry's press conference you can do he is pretty fed up with this team. I think Zimmer is gone for sure, he said that talent is there but there not around the ball. If that isnt an indictment of Zimmer I dont know what is.

Throw the guy a slant and perhaps he can achieve some "returns after catches". The offensive usage of both TO and TG is ridiculous.

You don't pay a guy 10 million dollars and then proceed to not do what teams have been successful in doing on the past with him at wide out. Throw the quick slant already.

Regardless of what happens this offseason, if Parcells or Zimmer isn't gone this team will continue to fade back to the realm of mediocrity.
Exactly!

That is where TO is at his best.. unfortunately our coaching staff is too stupid to figure out how to use our players strengths.. on both offense and defense.. to our advantage.
