Guys, I want you to check out these names..

I think they're doing the right thing by moving Carpenter into the middle. His instinctiveness and size will allow him to be moved around all over the place.

Imagine seeing him line up in the middle on the 1st play.
2nd play, he's lined up as an OLB opposite Ware, and Burnett slips in to play ILB for a play.

Third play, Ware is lined up next to Ellis and Roy Williams comes up to the LOS on the opposite side, while Carp & Ayodele are in the middle, Hatcher Canty and Spears also on the LOS.

With our depth, we can switch men in and out, put Ware and Carp all over the place, have RW stalking the LOS like a Jaguar, and the rest of the secondary shadowing ever receiver, leaving the QB hardly any time to do squat. That's my dream :)

If we're smart - and we'd have to be REAL smart, it wouldn't take that long. It would be pointless to have that kind of depth on O, since we can't rotate that many players in at any positions save maybe RB. It's also alot harder to hit on offense.
It would definitely take at least 2 years of solid drafting/FA to get me feeling as comfortable about the offense as I do about the defense.

Eh, I focused on the three. But, look at this defense. It's been two years - it's brand new, aside from TNew and Roy.

We can do the same on offense with Witten and Julius, particularly if one of our backup QB pipe dreams comes true, and all the young talent there starts coming on. I mean, this Oline is getting younger and younger. Not a bad start. One or two superstar playmakers drafted, and we're there.

Haha!! Everything you just said, I agree with 100%.

In my head, I envision this scene being played out.. How awesome would this be:

Roy Williams: All right, Moss... you called down the thunder, well now you've got it! You see that? (showing him the star on his helmet) It says I'm a Dallas Cowboy!
Santana Moss: Roy, please, I...
Roy Williams: [referring to Portis, laying dead] Take a good look at him, Santana... 'cause that's how you're gonna end up! The Commanders are finished, you understand? I see a Commander helmet, I kill the man wearin' it!
[lets Santana up to run for his life]
Roy Williams: So run, you cur... RUN! Tell all the other curs the law's comin'!
[shouts]
Roy Williams: You tell 'em I'M coming... and hell's coming with me, you hear?...
[louder]
Roy Williams: HELL'S COMING WITH ME!

 ... Good work!

Not a bad start but we'll need at least 1 (potentially 2) more starting quality speedster WR; 2-3 starting quality linemen; if JuJo has a bad year, people will be calling for a new RB; and, of course, a QB. Romo being the real deal would be a major break through, but I don't have much hope for him or Henson.

Great observation, I never thought of them in that regards. Makes me feel even better about our defense. And I was feeling REALLY GOOD about it.

I still believe in JuJo, and more to the point, JJ and MB3.

I don't have much hope for the QBs, but it could happen.

I'm liking our youth at OL. If the progress is true, we'll just need to phase out Flo and Marco.

Set at TE.

Crayton looks like a solid 3/2. So, a pair of WRs will prolly be needed.

At most, though, that's like 5 players. Not too tall an order. Of course, hitting on them is tough. But if we even approach the success rate we have on D, it's good. Ireland looks good.

What do they all have in common?

They might all be backups this season.

That, my friends, is the making of one potentially amazing defense.

and people need to realize that if the blocking is as bad as it was last yr, it doesnt matter who plays RB...nobody will have a good yr with that kind of play

ah man!! how come you get to be Doc??

 "Tombstone" is one of my favorite movies of all-time.. Second only to The Godfather trilogy.. I have seen that sucker probably about 25 times..

No skirt but I've never seen it. Guess I'll have to make it a point to see it...isn't it a Brad Pitt or Val Kilmer flick? Probably why I didn't see it. But if the ZoneBoys recommend it...then it must be worth seeing.

yep, it's a Val Kilmer flick.. he is INCREDIBLE in it.. he is the best part of the movie, and that's saying a lot.. Kurt Russell, Sam Elliott, and Bill Paxton are also in it.. you've gotta see it.. and when you do, PM me and tell me how happy you are that you did..

Best part of the whole movie.. also, another line I use all the time..

Guys, I think we are on to something here.. We need some good photoshoppers.. or even better, some creative video guys.. I'm thinking that most of the Tombstone script could be translated into Cowboys speak..

Don't things always look better before the season starts?
I lean more towards liking what the 'Boys have put together on defense but I want to see it get done on the field before I get carried away.

According to most Skins fans, we don't have much depth on defense.

Oh yeah, you forgot Jacques Reeves and Rocky Boiman.

Rich.......

yeah, and Rocky Boiman and Jacques Reeves too.. I almost put those guys on there because they all have been earning very high praise and they all look like good players that could start for a bunch of teams.. but I decided to just list the guys that either were starters at one time or who were brought here or drafted with the intention of starting.. those guys I listed are some really really good players that would start for a ton of teams.. I might even be so bold to say that our whole potential second team defense would be better than some starting defenses around the league..

Hatcher/Johnson/Spears
Burnett/Carpenter/Boiman/Singleton
Glenn/Reeves
Davis/Coleman

Romo is certainly working against the best 2nd-string defenders in the game

one note, so far it looks like Watkins will be coming on the field in the nickel, meaning Keith Davis looks like the starter going into the season
