Guys I'd like at 69, and they are 2nd round talent

Agreed. And I'm not saying we are now a 7-9 team because of this or anything.

I just think we got a little too cute for our own good. Again.

I think Dallas can still recover if they add anothere 3rd and add some solid football players. The playmakers are gone but Dallas still needs lunch pail guys.

Does the staff look to a QB, or is the value not there? I'm thinking round 4 or 5.
5th round. If we do not draft a QB, we will sign Chase Daniels as a UDFA if he is there.

I think we might Draft Bomar in the 5th and still sign Daniels.

The thing is we could have taken R Johnson at Safety at 51, and I wouldn't have minded.

Same for Gilbert at DE, or even Sidbury at 51.

We will definitely be able to land at least ONE of these guys tomorrow.

Plus we picked up an extra 4th to move up with.

I can't really complain.

I wish we could have taken another pick off the Bills, however. :D

It is when you have 11 2nd day picks already and you are giving up control of which player you select next.

That 4th has very little value for us because that pick may very well not make the team. We are not going to take 12 rookies out of camp.

OTOH we are again left in a position where the better rated players on our board are exposed to being picked before we are on the clock again.

Its not worth the extra pick in this situation. Pick the best player on our board, we still have a ton of picks tomorrow.

You have to assume that when we picked our room had a group of players similarly graded.

If that is true it always makes sense to trade down, especially with the abundance of picks we have tomorrow, since at anytime we can use that flexibility to move up on a whim and still stay within the confines of that similarly graded group.

larry brown has been watching film with the coaches and scouts and he said that the team itself had most of the players graded about 2 rounds lower than most, so it does make sense.

like goose said the value maybe in the third round.

I think the 3rd and 4th rounds are the meat of this draft for sure.

Lawrence Sidbury at 69, Rashad Johnson at 75, Mike Thomas int eh 4th or a trade back to the bottom of the 3rd.

That's a decent day any year.

Hos, don't you think Chicago would take Rashad Johnson with #68? He's probably the best S left and they need one just as much as we do. To be safe, I would send #69 and #156 to Detroit for #65. Detroit seems to be a willing trade partner for us.

Now that's an intriguing possibility there. What about Brian Hoyer?

Chicago might take any number of players.

Not sure. I know we looked hard at Brandstater and Davis as well as Bomar and Daniels. We had interest in Holbrook, but I haven't heard a thing about him lately.

That goes without saying. I would be willing to bet that Rashad Johnson is very high on their list, though. I would try to trade #69 and #156 to Detroit for their #65 so that we can be assured he will be there for us to pick. I think he is appreciably better than Chip Vaughn, Michael Hamlin, or any of the other S that are ranked below him. I hope we don't just assume that he will fall to us like we did with Unger.

I think it really depends where the Cowboys have him ranked on their Board.

Heck, I didn't think P Chung was going to go at pick 34 to NE.

We may have a guy like Gilbert or Sidbury or D Williams graded much higher.

Well, I would not be disappointed with Sidbury, D. Williams, Mike Thomas, Antoine Caldwell, or a handful of other players in round 3. I just think that S is such an important position for us and the drop-off after Rashad Johnson is considerable.

I think there is a good shot we'll end up with 3 3rd rounders when it's all said and done. I think we package a few of our later round picks and move up.

We'll have quite a few good players (at low salaries) by the time this draft is over.

Not when you already have 11 2nd day picks.

Its worth it to me to not get that 4th and be able to dictate the player you want, instead of hoping he falls to you.

That's what screwed them up today IMO, they locked into Delmas/Robiskie/Unger and had no plan B when they went ahead of us.

I truly love it when people on message boards act like they are in the war room, or members of the Cowboys who know what they truly wanted. :lmao2:

With some wheeling and dealing, I hope we end up tomorrow with about 7-8 good players.

Rashad Johnson, S
Lawrence Sidbury, OLB
Antoine Caldwell, C/G
Jason Phillips, ILB
Deon Butler, WR/KR/PR
Terrance Knighton, DT
Lydon Murtha, OT
Brice McCain, CB

7 or 8 of those would be just fine...
