Had we taken Gilbert, Sidbury, Johnson at 51, virtually no one would have complained.

Edit: DJ Moore at CB can also be added to this list.

I'd like Johnson, Gilbert or Sidbury...would be great to grab 2 out of 3 in the 3rd.

The great thing is that we can if we want to.

At 69, the odds are high that we get one of the three that you mentioned.

I couldn't agree more. I think the list extends a bit further than that even. Patience is the word of the day.

Lawrence Sidbury at 69, Rashad Johnson at 75, Mike Thomas int eh 4th or a trade back to the bottom of the 3rd.

That's a decent day any year.

We should have just picked the one we thought was best then instead of farting around to get an unnecessary 4th.

No such a thing as an 'unnecessary 4th'... lots of good talent still in the 4th round.

Not when you already have 11 2nd day picks.

Its worth it to me to not get that 4th and be able to dictate the player you want, instead of hoping he falls to you.

That's what screwed them up today IMO, they locked into Delmas/Robiskie/Unger and had no plan B when they went ahead of us.

What a pretty dumb thing to say. You might have another player you like with the additional fourth, or get a 3rd out of it for next year or something. An extra pick is never a bad thing.

Does the staff look to a QB, or is the value not there? I'm thinking round 4 or 5.

It is when you have 11 2nd day picks already and you are giving up control of which player you select next.

That 4th has very little value for us because that pick may very well not make the team. We are not going to take 12 rookies out of camp.

OTOH we are again left in a position where the better rated players on our board are exposed to being picked before we are on the clock again.

Its not worth the extra pick in this situation. Pick the best player on our board, we still have a ton of picks tomorrow.

We can now use that extra 4th rounder, plus use one of our 5th and/or 6th rounders to get another 3rd rounder, if we want.

We can end up with 3 3rd rounders (and I think this will actually happen) and 3 very good players.

If that happens, we'll have 3 picks in the top 100. That's not too shabby!

I'll be happy if Dallas gets the Alabama safety. For some reason I thought he was 1st round talent. Shows you what I know.

Agreed. And I'm not saying we are now a 7-9 team because of this or anything.

I just think we got a little too cute for our own good. Again.

If another team has a major lust for a particular player in round three or four, it might be of value to them. Hence, the potential for a trade. Remember how we acquired Canty? It was via trade on draft day. Maybe we use some of our picks to leverage a pick for next year.

I would like to see sidbury, thomas, brinkly, beckwith, gilbert and a handful of different qbs.

We had patrick turner and iglesias in for visits also.

Tomorrow should be fun. Jerry said he doesnt see the team trading any players or trading for any players so I expect we will!!!

Maybe we do. We'll see.

But we could have had a bird in our hand. Hopefully there are some in the bush tomorrow.
