Video: Guyton Blocks a Texan into the Bench Area!

The Cowboys disappoint me every single year with their nonsense but Guyton’s play this year has been one of the most positive surprises in the past few years.
No doubt. The first indication I had this year was at the Rooks Performance camp when he showed up looking yoked.

Between that and using Duke’s Offensive Masterminds camp as his training hub, it was really evident that he was putting in the work year round. You’ll recall he even was doing some boxing. The point being that he was trying everything to get better.

The injury impacts, and the fact that he was late to football so had limited technique, slowed him down but gotta give him credit for bearing down and being serious.

Tyler was always considered raw with a high ceiling coming out of OU. He just needed time and patience to let him develop and it appears that he is on the right track.

Looks like holding.
I don't think they normally would call it because he didn't materially yank the player back. The fact that he rode the linebacker to the sideline the direction the play went instead of completely stopping his momentum probably kept it from being called. If he'd pulled on the shoulder pad and stopped the LB by doing that, it would have likely been called. There's probably a play like that on almost every snap. Offensive linemen lock on and hold, they just can't unnaturally stop a defender who is outside of them. They have to "go with him" like Guyton does here.

Tyron used to be the best at that. He'd lock onto defenders with those big ol' mitts, take them where he wanted and make it seem like it was their idea.

I was hoping that the reason they announced that Guyton had beating out Nate Thomas after something like a day or two into pre-season was that he made that leap. It looks like he has. Very good news.

Nice effort and drive there. No internal clock telling him to let up.
Glad to see him make that next step up as an offensive tackle. Just need to hope no fluke injuries this year
