I always when going to a car DRIVE THRU ATM , I cannot have the car stereo on just to punch my information in. I have to have complete silence at that moment.

Got me thinking of habits that you do that might seem strange to other people

That's not so strange. There are things that have audio cues to help make the process easier. The ATM is one of them.

I sometimes do this thing with my eyes, while I'm watching TV (obviously not the important parts). I look at the 3 stereo components over the television, first the middle, then my eyes dart to the left one, the middle, the right, then back to the middle one. I might do it once, or I might do it many times in a row. I'm conscious that I'm doing it, but I keep doing it, almost to the point of OCD.

Me too. I do stuff like that all the time.

When I eat,I will finish one thing on my plate before eating another.
If I have 4 different foods on my plate I will start at one item and finish it before eating the next item until the plate is empty.
Sometimes I do that. I'll usually eat corn or peas first, to keep them from getting cold.

I count. Stripes on the road, letters in a sign, patterns in my head (sometimes I multiply them over and over), etc... I count just about everything. Always have as long as I can remember. No idea why.

Me too. I have to fight it to keep me from going insane. Strike that, from going more insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I once had to rewind Austin Powers so I can count how many times Dr. evil said "Shhh" in that one scene.

A few months later we were at the theater for AP2 and before the movie they had a little trivia game about AP1. One of the questions was "How many times did Dr Evil tell Scott to 'Shh"'?

I won an Austin Powers cup. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy (I am) because I knew the answer. And since I answered right away it was obvious I wasn't guessing.

If my memory is correct he said "Shh" 15 times.

Same. Footsteps, swipes with the rake, items of clothing when I put them in the washer, could be anything. But I don't usually just keep counting higher. I usually just count until I feel like starting over; Maybe count 12 steps, then 7, then 20. It seems like just something for my mind to do when there's nothing for my mind to do.

OCD?

Same.....try to stop, but within minutes, I'm doing it again not really noticing until I notice. I usually do it by 2's for whatever reason. Telephone poles, sign posts, light poles........

My dad used to drive a route from ABQ to Kingman for 20+ years. He'd read signs backwards....

Now that I can control the volume from the buttons on the steering wheel, I have to tap the button to the beat. Usually eighth notes, and I have to end on the four, or the last beat in a measure if it's not in 4/4 time.

I had a guy that worked with me in OK that was more dedicated than that. He would line up food like all the fries have to be lined up and then he will eat from one end all the way to the other, never taking a fry out of order, whatever order is in his mind. He would look at every bite of his burger and if it didn't look right, he'd take a nibble here and there until it looked right before proceeding.

Watching him eat ribs or corn on the cob made me think of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". He would strip one side of the rib clean before taking a bite form the other side and you could make a pipe out of the cob when he was threw with it.

His wife told me she wouldn't serve him mixed vegetables at home because the kids would get nervous watching him separate them into little piles of all carrot or peas or corn before eating them.

One of my best friends takes that food can't be touching other food to the extreme and has to have a separate plate for everything......and utensils. When we'd go out, we had to make sure we got a table large enough for his spread. I lmao when I saw how his wife satisfied that quirk at home, he had his own dinnerware like you'd have for your kids with all these different sized bowls and plates.
