The reason sites like ours categorize posts is to keep an engaging variety of topics on the most-trafficked pages, and to make common topics findable on lesser trafficked pages. I know every little special snowflake out there has a take on Dak v. Romo right now that they think deserves its own thread and their constitutional right to have that thread be featured prominently, but the reality is, it's bad for the community to have one topic smeared all over the forum at the expense of everything else that's going on during the 4 game winning streak.

We'd have a WR zone or a Jerry's pet zone if we had dozens of WR and Jerry's pet threads to have to moderate every hour or two. Thankfully, we don't.

"Jerry's Pet Zone", lol. That Zone could include Garrett and Dez's monkey all in one Zone. But yeah it's nice to see the fan zone have something besides hating Romo or hating Dak or loving Romo and loving Dak. There's 50+ other members on that team that are balling out right. I feel those other team mates are being disrespected by all the Dak vs Romo talk.

I **think** you can start a Romo OR Dak thread in the FanZone you just can't start a Dak vs. Romo thread or a Dak/Romo comparison thread, etc, in the FanZone. If you want to discuss both of them at the same time you come here. If you want to discus either Dak or Romo alone, you do it in the Fanzone. Now, I don't know this for sure exactly but that;s the understanding I have at the moment.

That's exactly what it is.. Mind you, we're not being hardcore about it, but basically if you want to do a comparison thread come here. If a thread starts as a Romo or Dak thread and turns into a comparison thread down the road, it might get moved.

Did multiple people NOT fully explain the reasoning for it? The whole first page of the Fan Zone was being overrun. This takes the repetitive yammering to another page and lets everyone easily see other topics for a change.You see all these (relatively unobtrusive) banner ads because you don't support the site and the money from thse ads are minimal.

Seeing the direction the FanZone was going, I'd actually thought that a new Zone was needed a few days ago. Knowing how the place is run, I was surprised was relieved to see it.

But you go ahead and stick with the ungrateful and entitled attitude. It works for you.

I get ZERO banner adds and as an Admin I see more zones than you....mind exploded.

1) Almost all banner ads these days are pay-per-click meaning you only earn money if ads are clicked on, not viewed so adding a few extra ads going to one extra forum has never ever increased click rates on CZ.
2) Banner ads generate very little revenue unless you are medical focused or high demand content, and sports sites like CZ are one of the most saturated content markets out there meaning very little money is earned from basic banner ad clicks.
3) Forums are the worst sites on the internet at earning money from ads of any kind, but especially banner ads.
4) I have turned down hundreds of requests by ad companies over the years to put more intrusive and annoying ads on the site even when they offer much better rates than google ads.
5) I have never generated enough ad revenue to cover hosting of CZ nor have I ever made a profit from it.
6) If I really wanted to increase revenue on CZ, I would plaster affiliate programs all over the site, implement keyword advertising so it turns keywords in user posts into link-based ads, etc.
7) The decision to create this forum was not made by me, but rather the staff here due to the massive number of Romo-vs-Dak threads in the Fan Zone.
8) A lot of users here use the "New Posts" link below the blue menu bar at the top of the page and rarely go to individual forums via the home page.

.. and finally .. if you don't like it, simply stay in the Fan Zone.

It would've been nice if every poster with a Prescott versus Romo thought would posted their opinions within a single thread in the Fan Zone. It didn't happen. Seemingly, it never happens with such strongly held topics.

The Fan Zone's tagline is "For general discussions about the Dallas Cowboys." General discussion encompasses the offense, defense, special teams, practice, gameday, internal team commentary, external team commentary, AT&T Stadium, The STAR, current players, ex-players, player performances, injuries, success and failure stories, fan appreciation or disapproval of the franchise, examination of plays run during a game, breakdown of in-game situations, Jerry Jones quips, Garrett press conferences, ticket sales, upcoming opponents, pass opponents, the divisional race, conference standings, positional strengths and deficits, suspensions, reinstatements, etc.

The list goes on and on, more than enough to fill and dominate a multitude of top webpages in the Fan Zone every single day, 365/24/7. However, what does happen each time a hard line is drawn about a particular topic? Posters are motivated to create ten gazillion threads about that single topic.

<expletive> that. BAM! A temporary Quarterback Zone for the Prescott versus Romo mindset. Posters should think of it as an infirmary. The forum will be discharged from the site after the fever breaks ( whenever the heck THAT will ever happen )

I feel like there's more during this winstreak, specifically between Romo and Dak.
I also feel a majority appreciate what we have with Dak and Romo, but there are a growing number on both sides that make pot stirring comments that attack posters/QB.
And that some can't help themselves in dragging in the same repeated debate into any QB thread.
