Hampton over Booker

I absolutely believe the Booker pick was the right pick, even if it was considered a reach. We needed an alpha leader who is only to work wonders for the entire OL. Just look at the other NFC East teams and their DLs. We absolutely needed an upgrade!

How many of you guys would be happier right now if we went Hampton over Booker in round 1?
You draft very good guards in the lower 2nd round or 3rd. You draft good RBs in the third or forth round. And (very) good ones at those positions is all you need to win in this league.

To come back to answer your question: A RB with the 12th overall would have been an even bigger desaster. Which btw i wasnt quite aware of that our desasterous pick at 12th could even be topped. So thanks for the reminder on that.

Anyways guard or RB, who really cares. With our FO neither will make a difference.

Not me. Booker further Scotty’s vision of a tough, physical running game. Something I’ve been clamoring for decades now.

The Mingo trade was dumb, until it isn't. Meaning, what if it works? Think about it. What QB did he have at Carolina? What kind of team and coaching did he have? Could it be he just needs a real QB ? Let's see.

The same could be said about Miles Sanders . In for a better OL opening holes Sanders can be an underrated piece of the attack with Blue & Mafah .

You are way more likely to resign a OG to a second contract than a RB. So add that to the equation.

I am not drafting for next year. I am drafting, hopefully, for the next 7-8 years.

I would have said no if they had drafted someone that was considered close to the 12th ranked.

However, as long as they drafted someone ranked in the 20's, generally, then they might as well have taken Hampton.

Obviously, I'll do a complete 180 if Booker continues the great legacy of Allen and Martin.

Absolutely! And for longer than 7-8 years.

I thought about getting the TE Tyler Warren actually. That would be an upgraded pass catcher. Helps the passing game arguably as much as a #2 receiver with this QB.

Matter of fact when they announced the pick and said "Tyler", we were about to jump for the TE. Then they said "Booker" and wow took the air out of the room.

I am fine with the pick however, as the team would have more knowledge on how good Ferg will be this year (or not) than I would. Here's to Ferg having a good year, as the team expects, so that the guard pick is justified.

Unless it was Jeanty at 12, it's a pass. Hampton and Mafah are not much different and we got Mafah in round 6 or 7. Something like that. Hampton might be better with his short area burst, but Mafah will flat out seek you out and hurt you. He's also much more complete. He's great in pass pro.
Short area burst is everything to a RB. Mafah and Hampton are not in the same zip code as players.

I would say no.

I only want elite RB prospects taken that high. Hampton was not an elite prospect IMO.

Jeanty was the only RB worth a pick that high.

I would have been fine with a trade down and taking Hampton.
If you get Ezeiruaku and Ravel in rounds 2 and 3, then Blue in 5, need to trade down.

From what I've been reading lately, some NFL execs have been quite impressed with our draft picks. I think we made a very useful pick with Booker, who is likely to become very popular in the future for most of the fans. Mafah should prove quite satisfactory, according to popular opinions. In fact, the rest of our draft was also exceptional to those who know the talents involved. I'm happy with our choices.

Can Hampton block Julian Carter

Agreed. The Mafah shade is bizarre when you see his accomplishments. He gets downgraded no matter what he has done.

Many of those who frequent this website are in the habit of finding fault with this team, regardless of what the circumstances dictate. I'm hopeful this year will see this team improve. The choices we made in the draft will be likely to cause at least some measure of improvement this year, imho. What we had last year was the sad result of a poor offseason, no doubt. This year, our picks were excellent.
