- Looking back, if Cowboys did not find any trade suitors for the 12th overall pick, ..then what they have done otherwise ..?
- Should we have push more for the dire need at RB for Hampton 12 overall ? .. or the WR2 with the 12th overall with a WR Marcus Golden ?
I never consider a Hampton as a great prospect RB- and im not for pushing/reaching to make him one that high, it's just a lower risk/high reward in a 2nd rd for that
kind of back.
- I'd more prefer Ohio State RB Treyvon Henderson if i was going to draft a RB but even then i'd prefer bottom of the 1st or high in the 2nd rd
- And i dunno if either Golden or Hampton was on the club's value draft board as 12th overall.
- Me frankly i believe you draft a OG this high in the 1st rd, if he is a blue chip OG prospect.
Those are the types that you can put a Zack Martin on a Chris Jones, Jalen Carter and never have to fret about elite man-to-man matchups at the NFL level.
Never have to worry about giving him double help - and he can handle himself well in hurry up, and 2 minute warning drills in critical must-pass situations.
- Supposedly Booker is considered an average athlete. Athleticism and lateral movement is not part of his tools
You can't ask him to constantly roll/get outside & in space on certain quick plays as you could a blue chipper like Zack Martin.
That's why it's so important to have the ideal OC/OL coach and scheme fit for a Booker. And be able to continue that should those same OC and OL coach
scheme, happen to move on depart - ala promotion hires.
- But I believe you can win with average athletes in interior - depending upon their skill set, ala Ravens Marshal Yanda, Trey Smith KC Chiefs, Joe Thuney, etc.
- but it's also very critical that these guys have a terrific combo of knack, anchor, technique, demeanor & consistency for more than holding their own, - en route to Pro Bow/All Pro status .
- Another deciding factor in drafting Booker was the leadership qualities- the club obviously thought (or was paranoid ?) about that departure with the retirement of future HOFer Zack Martin
did not want to chance Dak disruption to a cheap price street FA vet or guys like Mike Hoffman and TJ Bass.
