Not sure stretching is to blame. I think its more to do with football conditioning. The quantum and frequency of contact drills has dramatically reduced in recent years.

When I played (albeit at a much lower level than NFL) it was noticeable that your recovery time dramatically improved during preseason. Minor injuries would clear up much quicker than if you got the same injury out of season. Its as if the body boosts its recovery and repair mechanism to cope with the increased contact. This isnt about playing hurt - the healing process was quicker.

I remember that school well from my youth, but it was A&M Kingsville when I was a coach. With John Randle as there more famous HOF alum.

Lol, and Darryl Green and Ugene Upshaw. When Ugene kicked off, the stands would all chant, 'field goal, Tuck!'

I think it's time to talk about ...
  1. the lack of appropriate practice and workout time to gradually build up thanks to the new CBA
  2. how we love the sped up, quick pace of practices, but perhaps the stretching sessions should ease back into a longer and slower routine

Let's cool it with the yoga stuff like it's the answer...

Arian Foster did them throughout his career and was known for having bad hammies. I'm sure yoga is beneficial, among other things, but there is more to it. I mean, Eli Manning is the NFL's true "iron man", think he's going the extra mile with stretching and exercises?

Wouldn't really have much to do with hamstrings. Though, I also don't think hamstrings have much to do with the conditioning either - I think all of these guys go through what they need to in that department, especially stretching.

It most likely has to do with players not listening to their body and knowing when to let up when some strain is on the hammies. That and some people simply not being built for the NFL.

The sky is every color, but blue buddy. We only see the color that is rejected and so reflected by the sky. All other colors are accepted and absorbed.

How's that baby? Yeah!

That was also what Johnston said with the CBA agreement that teams are seeing a lot more soft tissue injuries. Teams are limited on the time players are required to be there
