Happy 10th anniversary to Tony Romo's first pass & TD

I will always remember Romo for the gutty display he put on vs San Francisco, making a second half come back against a very tough defense with broken ribs and a punctured lung. The man was just as tough of an SOB as has ever played the game on that day.

Second would be the spin move that juked JJ Watt out of his shoes, where he then proceeded to throw a touchdown strike. It was a thing of beauty. I work in Houston and because I ALWAYS have my cowboys bracelet on Ive made myself a target for smack talk. So that game was pretty special for me. I ran my mouth quite a bit the following week lol.

The last memory that really sticks out to me is watching him leave Lambeau after the 2014 loss and seeing him absolutely fall apart as his family surrounded him to keep the cameras away. Yes hes filthy rich and has everything a man could ever dream of but guess what, that loss still hurt like hell. People sometimes say the fans want it more than the players. That is not the case with Romo. So regardless of how idiots judge his career I will always see a man who put it all on the line and sacrificed everything he had for the franchise.

Great post.

Regardless of how things play out moving forward, I will always be glad Romo wore the star.

Yep I'm sure Romo doesn't win a SB or two with Jimmy Johnson coaching him and the talent Aikman had around him.

Again...the lack of perspective on this board is amazing sometimes.

They're both great QBs SB rings be damned.
Well..

I would reply by remembering what Parcells said about Romo when he left..

Said he was a coach killer.

And he is right.

Romo for all the reasons..

be it playoff losses..

Loses to get the team in the playoffs in the 8-8 seasons..

cronic health problems..

trips to Cabo during a playoff run..

its been a gonga line of failures.

Romo is not going to win a champipnship.

And if he comes back and the team loses..

it will be a full tilt competition for the starter..

and DAK will win.

Romo is about to end his career as the starter.

Its about time.

I could've sworn Romo's first game was against the Giants in relief of Bledsoe. Then he started the next game against Carolina. I don't remember Bledsoe ever getting his job back, but the video shows Romo replacing Bledsoe against the Texans. Funny how memory works.

This was Romo's first regular season game action. Bledsoe started the following week against the Giants, and lost his job for good at halftime.

Romo and Witten are 2 of the greatest Cowboys ever. Outstanding football players, leaders, and model citizens. These 2 guys carried a standard for an entire decade that unfortunately hardly any other cowboy player met.
You must be a 2000s baby to speak such blasphemy.

did you grow up doing your homework on a waitresses pad or something?

cant believe how ungrateful people are. some of ya'll need to get off DAK's nutts and appreciate that ROMO was the only thing exiting about the COWBOYS for the past 10 years. just imagine if we had kyle boller, rex grossman, byron leftwich or even carson palmer for 10 years........not too exiting huh?

I'll say it again, the amount of disrespect this fan base gives Romo is unreal. An undrafted FA, 3rd string, nearly cut, fought his way to top scrubs to finally overtake a great veteran in his twilight years and kept the job for a decade and I believe will once again take back his rightful place in a couple weeks.

That went over my head, bro?

I did my homework in the library back in the stacks with the faithful and always willing girlfriend.

And what is a "waitress pad"..

You ok?

something she takes orders on in shorthand because the paper is short,

you know

what I am saying?

btw Parcells not only never called romo a coach killer but has and continues to say

much of the opposite.

Got it.

You have your answer.

And Parcells did say it shortly after he left about Romo.

Romo and TO were the reasons he left.

its cool that you make stuff up and then post it on message boards though.

Your perfectly allowed to hate romo for made up reasons or not though so I hope it brings you joy i guess.

Dak won the job when he beat Green Bay.

If Coach Parcells definitely called him a "coach killer", I would like to see or hear it tangibly.

I guess you were not following Parcells too much..

I'm sure you were right there partying in Cabo with Romo..

in your mind anyway..mental reps..huh?

Keep on partying..

I hear Meredith singing softly in the background...

"Turn out out the lights..the party's over"

Dak won the job when he beat Green Bay.

Tony Romo won the job when he had the worst game of his career and threw 5 interceptions on Monday Night against Buffalo and still won the game in the last two minutes.

Tony Romo won the job when he beat Green Bay by outdueling Brett Favre and a young hotshot Aaron Rodgers to secure home field advantage.

Tony Romo won the job when he made Miles Austin something out of nothing with a late fourth quarter comeback against Kansas City on the way to winning the division.

Tony Romo won the job when he came back into the game with a broken rib and a punctured lung against San Francisco and won the game with two clutch drives and throws: one to tie the game and the other to win in overtime.

Tony Romo won the job when he outdueled the greatest quarterback ever by passing for 506 yards and 5 touchdowns in possibly the greatest performance in a loss in Cowboys history.

Tony Romo won the job when he beat the Super Bowl Champions in the most difficult place to play in the league--Seattle--on the way to leading this team to the best record and playoff run in twenty years.

Tony Romo won the job when he came back from a broken back that season two games to early and still lead this team to that record.

Tony Romo won the job when he made perhaps the most clutch fourth down throw in Cowboys playoff history only to have it overturned by the most controversial ticky tack catch ruling ever.

Tony Romo won the job when he broke every single Dallas Cowboys passing record.

Tony Romo won the job because he holds the fifth best career quarterback rating in NFL history.

Tony Romo won the job because he has the best fourth quarter comeback percentage in NFL history.

Tony Romo won the job because he has the best fourth quarter quarterback rating in NFL history.

Tony Romo won the job because he has more fourth quarter comebacks than Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman and the tenth most in NFL history.

Tony Romo won the job because he has 30 game winning drives, thirteenth most in NFL history and more than any other Cowboys quarterback.

Tony Romo won the job because he deserves better.

Dak has already won the job. Jerry nor Garrett won't even committ to Tony being the starter anymore. I'm telling you the Green Bay win was huge for Dak in their eyes.

Team sport.
Sure..

The 1966 and 1967 Packers were a good team.

but when you think of those teams..

why do they show Bart Starr doing his QB sneak for the win or Lombardi bring ridden off the field on the teams shoulder?

Becuz individuals having the reputation as winners is all most people remember.

So if what you are saying is that the teams weren't good enough..

Fine..

But Romo was a part of those teams and therefore he wasn't good enough.

There..happy?

His dropback seemed so fast back then.

In his first 6-8 years he was more athletic in some respects than any quarterback. He wasn't elite athletic as a runner, but crazy good at dodging guys within the pocket, throwing from difficult, awkward positions and angles. He could improvise and create.

One of the most entertaining guys to watch play the position. And so incredibly clutch as his 4th quarter QB rating and number of comebacks attest.
