Normally reserve these good wishes to Cowboy players but growing up watch Earl was a pleasure

One of the most devastating RB to play the game

One of the best on the field and off.

I once saw an interview with Cliff Harris and Charlie Watters and both agreed Earl was painful to tackle. If you went high on him he would plow you under and if you went for the legs you would pay the price. The man legs were like tree trunks.

The guy didn't know what running out of bounds meant! I've read articles in the past that players from his era voted that he was the guy they hated tackling the most.

True. It was said Houston had 4 plays. Earl to the left, Earl to the Right, Earl up the middle and the long Bomb to Kenny Burrough

That would explain a lot! Earl was the ONLY reason I pulled for the oilers.

Can't say I ever pulled for the Oilers, their fans made it perfectly clear when we moved to Houston that Cowboy fans were not welcomed. lol
However I had great respect for Earl. I should also say I'm a Longhorns fan so watched him at UT as well and was a fan of his before he went to Houston

I'm a little bit of a Longhorn fan myself. It's that Houston/ Dallas thing. They have always been jealous of us! My dad was a big Earl fan so we'd watch those games just to see Earl punish would be tacklers. It kinda stuck with me as a young impressionable kid.

I understand. When my family first moved to Houston we pulled for the Oilers since they were AFC and of course remained Cowboys fans but when Houston fans along with guys like Carl Mauck came out and said Cowboy fans needed to get the hell out of Houston and he would help us pack that was the day I swore I would never pull for Houston and have taken great joy in watching them choke and fail.

I have a lot of friends who are Oiler/Texans fans and we give each other the business, it is all fun. Still I have to say I take pleasure out of seeing Houston lose. lol

Those back to back runs starting at 2:43 are the plays I'll always remember of Campbell. Blew up #58 and the next one where he somehow regains his balance after a perfect hit from a DB to score that TD.

Greatest RB I ever saw. For that span of 8 years or so, I've never seen anybody better. He was simple the most devastating Runner I have ever seen.

I agree. The combination of brute strength yet speed was amazing to watch. If Earl had one down side to his game it was poor hands in the passing game outside of that one of the greatest I have ever seen.
