The NFL likes to hide its bad PR as best as possible. Like, perhaps, a significant reduction to Greg Hardy's suspension.

Today or tomorrow would tamper the heat of such a ruling quite nicely. Tucked neatly amidst a beer-drinking July 4th weekend, the NBA free agent chaos, and the women's World Cup Final.

By Monday, much of the stench and starch will have been taken out of it. People struggle to stay offended for long in this 24-hour news cycle world.

If not now, I have no clue when. Not a stitch of new information, and yet this thing is growing mold like a wet jock strap hanging in a swamp tree.

Yep, I just saw that. And let's stretch our conspiring minds even further for just a moment.

Hardy reduction to two games, and before the disgusted chatter can get going next week, Jerry signs Dez to a long-term contract.

Works for Jerry, Goodell, Henderson, and everybody.

I don't think so. They have to rule on this, and if that was their ruling after all this time, it feeds the contempt case, and Doty will throw this thing in the Hudson River.

I hope so. I just want to see these boys getting after the QB. I don't care where you line them up. Just get them all on the field together and release the hounds.

I think you guys are over-thinking this one. I don't think there is a news cycle conspiracy going on. I just think the NFL is screwing with Hardy and the NFLPA and would rather drag it out than reach a fair conclusion.

There is no slow news cycle anymore with Twitter and TMZ. When news drops it trends and until something else takes it place.

I like it, but can the NFL Universe really handle that much Cowboys positivity in one week?

i think the nfl is delaying this to help john mara and the new York giants I think they will delay to try to get the full ten games but that's just me

On the bolded part you are correct. However, if you think that there is no "plan" on when the NFL likes to release certain news that it can control, well . . . . . . . , I think that is just a tad naive, to put it nicely.

The Cowboys are going as if it's 10 games. The best you can hope for is 4-6 games but because this was a domestic violence incident the league is going to error on the long side not the short side.
