Im happy with 9 wins I think they will get 10 at least also. I thought it was funny that I was getting mad that they might not make the playoffs when I only expect 6 or 7 wins at the best. Lol

There's also 'no way' anyone can say he's being asked to play the same role.
Rush the passer vs. rush the passer. Yeah, clearly his role has changed.

~blink, blink~

Martin's a fine player, but I'm not buying that he's the end-all, be-all for this running game. He didn't suddenly step in and turn a bad line into a good one.
No, he turned a decent line into a great one capable of sustaining this kind of game, I do not think we could have done this last year. Done better than we were? Yeah, sure. Okay. This good? No way on this earth.

More than anything else, I feel that choice could be what costs Coughlin his job.
I don't think Coughlin gets fired. I think he can stay there until he decides to call it quits. I admire the man though, so maybe I'm not paying attention to something.

Let's have a civil conversation, shall we? My point is that I wasn't sure how he would do as a pure 4-3 defensive end at the NFL level, and I think the results showed that it wasn't a good fit.

Sounds like we agree here.

I don't think he gets fired either, he's done too much for the franchise. But I don't rule out a nudge towards retirement either.

His decision to go with McAdoo and that West Coast style offense looks like a very big mistake. And if the GM (who can't get the lines fixed) goes, the next guy might want to make his own decisions.

Like I said in the summer, the cowboys are one good draft away from being a top 5 team for years to come.

Take it from the guy who picked 11-5 in April.

I can also envision a 2008 Cardinals run from this team come playoff time. Which we will make(playoffs).. Easy!!

Is Denver a 3-4? I don't think so. Knighton and Williams are both DTs and start. Ware and Miller at DEs? If I am wrong cool, but I don't think I am.

I think any such nudge would be a mistake. They won't find someone better.

I think you're right about what they're calling their defense, but in watching it, it looks like Miller and Ware are playing 3-4 OLB more than they are 4-3 DE. From what I've seen of Ware, he's standing up much more in Denver than he did here last year.

I think any such nudge would be a mistake. They won't find someone better.

Could be, but times runs out on even the best of coaches. In Coughlin's defense, I don't think his GM has done a good job of restocking talent for him at all.

But that decision to dramatically change the offense? That one's on him.

And if the Cowher rumors are or were ever true, I could see him getting a push.

I actually find the implosion in Washington to be a more compelling offseason story.

Lol, the team is "building toward" nothing
The only thing that had changed is the OL
The player that makes everything go (romo) is one hit away from retiring

It better be about this year

Over the last few seasons there's been a complete overhaul of the roster along with an obvious change in culture/attitude. If you can't see that then you're only seeing what you want to see.

I am as happy as the next guy about 9 wins with three games to go, but I have no idea why preseason predictions from some fans on a forum, the media and a clueless owner should have any bearing on how I feel about those 9 wins. Bottom line is in today's NFL you never know who will be good and who will not be good from year to year.

I mean, if this is the game to be played, Jerry should just come out every year and say it will be "uphill"; that way if they exceed expectations everyone is happy.

So while I'm happy, I'm not satisfied. We don't know if Murray gets resigned. We have been relatively healthy. The window of opportunity has to be now. I don't care about perceived progress or if a certain coach gets to keep his job. It would be a waste of a healthy and dominant O-line not to do some damage in the playoffs.

Exactly.

Perceived progress without tangible results is basically like a "moral victory" in a game where you lose.

9 wins is a nice little Garrett milestone, but I'm not happy with 9 wins. What kind of standards do we have here? I want us to make the playoffs this year.

Apparently there are pretend ones. Ones where you say he "overachieved" with an injured roster, yet feel that nine wins with a relatively healthy one is an achievement.

I think a real accomplishment seems to be overlooked. This team now has - at minimum - 9 wins!

We are officially out of the doldrums of mediocrity and the repeated 8-8 seasons. I think this is something to be thankful for and appreciated and I'm not sure there's enough of it happening.

No clearer indicator of progress can be shown in my opinion. The bottom line is that Jerry, Garrett, and company have given us a better and more successful product, and for that I offer my congratulations and appreciation.

I'm very pleasantly surprised with this level of success and, for me, anything more will be gravy.

we'll win more and the process will continue

I'll never be happy with only 9 wins... that's just mediocrity in todays NFC. We need a minimum 11 wins to ensure a playoff seed. Falling short of that is yet another failed season. Our team has clearly improved but lets not let that fact make us lose sight of the goal.

I didn't expect 9 wins. Happy with that.

But, the Superbowl is the prize. Seasons are for not, if no Super Bowl win.

The truth, this one speaks. - Yoda

There were many chances to get to 9, 10 or even 11 wins in each of the last three years. This thread is embarrassing for this organization.

I said 10, possibly 11 wins with health, so I am not satisfied just yet
