DallasEast delivering strong again...

Even in Bobby's rookie year when he was having trouble getting activated, I watched him closely in the pregame drills to see if I could get any clues why, and it seemed like no one talked to him much, like he was sort of isolated out there.

But to see Colombo and even Berger(?) talking ish to his face like that... And then to have him call it "friendly banter"... That's just embarrassing.

Number 18 overall pick. Ugh.

At the time we needed it but im sick Cromartie isnt a Cowboy.

San Diego did take a big risk by drafting Cromartie though.

Wow. You are completely clueless.

And you just got sucked in by a tv drama. Figured you were smarter than that.

SO Stewart and Jerry were all in on the plot, too, eh?

Why do you back this guy to no end? Wouldn't figure you to support a guy who doesn't play tough.

Stewart and Jerry praised him, but I guess you blocked that part out, huh?

You're a typical "Sucker" only focusing on the negative, and ignore the positive.

The "Barbie" comment was trash talking between friends. Incase you didn't know Columbo and Carp are good friends off the field.

But you go on, be the sucker. Buy into the drama.

So forget Hard Knocks ever existed... Why do you always have the back of a first rounder linebacker who plays soft on the field and is running 3rd string when Burnett's healthy?

I've seen you rip plenty of players... What's different with this one?

Hey, like I said, this isn't me patting myself on the back for being against this guy from day one, because I thought he looked like a player at Ohio State and I was glad we drafted him. I don't know what went wrong.

But from what I see, he can't play.

Its funny cause doctor32 Who I trust as much as anyone in telling me what he sees from the game said everything we saw tonight a couple of days ago about carpenter.

Both of us have been waiting for him to have that one game, one play or one moment where you go..ahh there it is. BUt it has never come. He doesnt have that ability but he does have some ability.

But like doctor32 preached to me sunday, he doesnt play physical enough and he seemingly doesnt read the plays fast enough, or at least as fast as bradie and zach. And that is basically what we heard tonight.

It will be interesting to see what happens this weekend.

The stereotype of a 6'4" 250 lbs. big, hairy, white linebacker from Ohio State is supposed to conjure up images of Chris Spielman and Mike Vrabel. I think it caught everyone off guard how soft he turned out to be. I didn't really like the pick at the time because I didn't think he had much upside (the board meme at the time was "We already have one Ware, we don't need another one." .... which I always found absolutely ridiculous. I'll take 5 Demarcus Wares, thank you very much). I had no idea he was going to have plenty of upside but no brawn. But I knew something was wrong his rookie preseason when he got drove about 12 yards straight backwards and onto his butt by Minnesota's 4th string fullback. I can understand a rookie being confused or too raw, but no 1st round draft pick should be manhandled like that by training camp fodder.

One thing I didn't understand though ... Jerry and Stewart were calling him a finesse guy, but it seemed the OL were mad at him for being too physical in practice. Carpenter is in a no win situation there, and he's right to err on the side of pleasing the coaches over pleasing the OL.

I had no idea there were "finesse" linebackers. How do you "finesse" a RB or QB to the ground?

That comes with ON THE FIELD experience.

How fast did Brady James read plays when he first started getting playing time? Hell, even know he can't tell the difference between a run and play action. Yet no one is crucifying him like they do Carpenter.

And no s*** he doesn't read plays as fast as Zach Thomas. Zach is an 11 (?) year veteran with a legitimate shot at teh Hall of Fame. Not reading plays as fast as someone with those credentials isn't a bad thing for a guy who hasn't has anywhere close to the same amount of playing time.

When a player starts performing well in practice, it doesn't mean it's going to automatically transfer on to the playing field on game day. It takes ON THE FIELD experience to be able to play as fast in games as you do in practice.

After he gets some solid playing time, if he hasn't picked up his game considerably, then I'll rip him. Until then, it's premature and unwarranted.

I am sorry this is dumb.

They show one play where he gets through the line and so an OL talks trash. Last time I checked getting to the backfield is a good thing. Then they show 4 bad plays and you think any of this is proof of anything?

Zach Thomas says hes playing the best, Jerry Jones says he is playing well, his position coach says he is playing as good as anyone. the worst you can say about his play in the preseason is solid.

The guy has made plays and if you haven't seen them you just aren't paying attention.

Its pretty sad when u compare a 4th round pick to Guy taken 18th overall and cry its not a fair comparison. Columbo was pissed at barbie for trying to show up the oline by runnin through a mock block or going live in camp marshmallow. Columbo acted like he did not respect barbie at all that's the worst thing that can happen to a man in any walk of life. Fans even gms can lose respect for a player but as soon as his piers lose respect he is done. Barbie is not a man he is a little girl with the hair to match and columbo is a man and he showed it on national tv.

I will sum it up like this....it is MORE likely that Carpenter will NOT be on this team when we start the season next year....than it is likley he WILL be on the team when we start the season next year. He is a 1st round pick, so he will get the three years he is getting...plus we have injuries at linebacker....so there was no chance he would not be on the team this year...but next year is a different story.

No they didnt... Was a stud at FSU and hurt his knee before the season so he was on track for recovery and blazed a 40 time at the combine...

Whats the risk? He was one of the most talented kids coming out of both high school and college.

Dallas *** that one up...

Brady James was considered by many to be a bust until his 3 year in Dallas, where Parcells said he had the best camp of anyone. Still he didn't see any real playing time until his 4th ( and breakout season). I'm not a big brady James fan and the overall talent at lb wasn't near what it is today.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know people say James was drafted later than Carp, but to me that is incedental. I have been patient with carpenter for several reasons. 1st was in his rookie year midway thru the season Ellis got hurt and he was moved back outside. He started in the playoff loss to detroit, and I felt he had a solid game. The ellis injury carried over into his 2nd season where he was eventually switched back inside. He had nerve damage in his neck that made him appear soft to the new coaching staff, he was labled and sat for the year. Wade Phillips comments about Carpenter where always the same "He stays later and is working hard and we hope that will translate to the field." This season he is getting more playing time and makeing more plays. Definite progress has been showed this offseason. Dallas has a history of giving up on players and they go other places and shine. Jimmy Smith wr jacksonville, Oliver Ross OT who went to the steelers to come into his own, ron stone who became a all pro og for the giants to name a few. Carp is not a ray lewis mlb, but then again neither is any mlb we have. Bobby Carpenter is making pregress and busting his butt to get better. He hasn't had one full season at mlb yet, without being moved outside. It is a new position for him, and he has had challenges absorbing it all mentally. This preseason he has showed good progress lets see how it all turns out by seasons end, before we cut him and he goes to the Patriots and becomes a 8 time probowler for them.

I see no big deal in the columbo incedent. Carpenter knows he has been labels as soft and a bust. If he has to go 100% on every play in every situation to change that perception that so be it. I would rather him be mr dedicated , piss people off, and get results, than not do it, and be a cool guy who is a bust. Prossman
