I don't know if Hard Knocks has any effect on losing players when you waive them, but it would seem to me that it's another tool for teams to use in evaluating players on the featured team. I watched Episode 2 the other day and thought about this with Azur Kamara. Not only did it show his work on the field -- both what he needed to work on and what he is doing well -- but it also gave a good examination of his character. Obviously, more than just a few minutes featured on a show is needed to fully examine a player, but it would seem like this would give you more info to work with if you've already been doing the legwork.

Kamara right now seems like a developmental player who needs to go on the practice squad, but he's clearly got some skills to work with. Episode 2 made that even more clear to me than what I had seen from camp videos/preseason games ... of course, maybe that's just the magic of television.

Kamara had 4 QB pressures in the hall of fame game just never finished a play. 43 was all in the backfield that game so Hard Knocks wasn’t the first time we saw him flash but it did illuminate his story to make him more memorable.

He is a good developmental type of prospect… but he’s got a lot of developing to do.

It can’t hurt to be on hard knocks for that type of guy.

He is a practice squad player regardless if it is the Cowboys or someone else.

It is just a matter if he likes it in Dallas and how much they max out his contract.

I think it depends on depth. If a team is looking for a good developmental end to stash on the end of its roster, a player who won't be active for a single game but shows potential, Kamara might be a good get.

We had an end I think we actually drafted a few years ago who didn't show as much as Kamara has and he ended up being claimed on waivers. Just looked it up and it was Erik Walden. So I never take it for granted that a team won't see something it likes.

Most teams have their own guys they want to keep
A few guys get snatched up by teams but really not that many
If a team wanted him before we got him then they may still want him
I doubt a team who wasn’t interested in him before will get interested based on hard knocks
