Hard Pills to swallow as Cowboys fans

Part of the problem. "Jerry I am upset with you, now take my money."

It's more of a case, imo, where I'm saying, for those going to the games to be more passionate there. Be assertive. I can't really get to games ATM as I live in Ohio (and was too sick for the game when they came to Cleveland and I am saving up for my convention in Chicago in a little over a month). But, if I was going to go to a game, I'd want to be loud. I started a fire Garrett chant while at the game in Chicago in 2019 when I was at my first Midwest FurFest. I'm not afraid to speak my mind. I wish more would say that.

I haven't been to a game since 2001. Not because I'm not a real fan but because I'd rather watch games in my home. So now I'm supposed to go to games just to protest? Nah.

I'm not active on social media because it's toxic. So now I'm supposed to sign up for X just to talk smack? Nah.

I, like many of you, love the Cowboys. This is the team that I've pulled for since I was 6, and I always plan to do so. However, every fanbase comes to that moment where they need to understand certain truths. In other words, there are hard pills to swallow as fans. Here are some hard pills to swallow as Cowboys fans. I think the sooner we understand these and take these pills, the sooner we can understand the reality of our situation. Then, the sooner as fans we can do something about it.

  1. Quitting on the team and not filling seats won't fix Jerry. For those of you who think that not going to games will take money away from Jerry, that's not how it works. Most of the seats are sold to corporate, and those that aren't bought by our fans will go to other fans. That's why there were seemingly more Lions fans than Cowboys fans on Sunday. It may seem like a slap to Jerry, but he's getting paid regardless.
  2. We are a soft team because we are a soft fan base. Do you think, as I tried to point out in a thread earlier this week, that our division rivals would be allowed to quit mid game like our team did? Of course not! The other teams, even if they're not good like the Giants, at least give their all. Why? Because you can't quit in Philly, New York, Buffalo, or Boston. Their fans will never let you hear the end of it. Instead, the team in Dallas is soft because we are more willing to quit on them and let them do what they do. What we should be doing is going to the games and getting as ruthless to them as our rivals would be to their teams if they give the effort the Cowboys have at home in 2024. Dak said he wanted the vibes, let's give them the vibes we feel about them. If we can rattle the players, there's a chance it rattles Jerry.
  3. We are not America's Team anymore. Nobody outside of the Dallas Cowboys fan base or organisation actually thinks that anymore. And that's okay! It puts an unnecessarily large target on our backs. I know where it comes from, but it doesn't change the fact that nobody actually sees is as that. We need to actually win to re-earn that nickname if we want it back.
  4. The Dallas Media is soft, bought, and paid for by Jerry. You saw in the way Jerry treated "The Fan" how he was quick to point out that he can replace them. He tripled down on it recently. Part of the reason he's allowed to exist in his world instead of of reality is because he's surrounded by an echo chamber that only tells him what he wants to hear.
  5. Part of the reason we fans are disliked is because some of us think year in year out it's our year. It's not! We are not always going to be contenders. Especially not with the inactive offseason we had. The fact things are going badly for the team should be the least surprising thing this season. Maybe, if we fans can be more honest about our team and realise that we are nowhere near a championship as some might think, then, we can approach things with clarity.
  6. Jerry can't handle true criticism, and it showed in his recent media interviews. This isn't exactly a hard pill, but it's a pill that is surprising. However, this is the best pill of the 5. Jerry is desperate. He can tell that we aren't happy. In his desperation, he showed his true colours. He's a narcissist who can't handle criticism. We, as fans, can use this.
When you take these 6 pills, you actually realise that there's something as fans we can do about our situation, and it needs to start in Dallas as many of us are outside of Texas. Jerry showed he can't handle criticism, especially when he's desperate. What we need is to flood Dallas media with our frustrations. At games, we need to be as loud as possible. I'm talking "Jerry sucks" chants, billboards to troll Jerry, signs at the stadium, the works. There are more of us than there are of Jerry and his boys. They can't ban all of us. The reality of the situation is that, we are 3-3 and have a brutal schedule ahead. If we miss the playoffs, it's on Jerry for his offseason inactivity. However, as fans, we can demand more, and it's time we take a leaf from our rivals and learn how to actually show true passion about the team. Not the deluded idea that everything will work out and we will win the SB. That won't happen anytime soon. When we look at the reality of our situation, we can approach things with honesty and clarity. In so doing, we can actually approach the games by holding our team accountable more. We can tell the media what we honestly think about our teams.

In other words, we can give Jerry an honest offer.
I like you. I think you know that. It’s especially sad for me to watch you go through the standard stages of grief first hand (lol, sort of) I wish I could change it, and I wish I could at least give you the experience of the past, before the giant ego took over.

That all said, there’s no way to hit Jerry in the wallet. The league pays the players a percentage of the revenue. Slightly less than 50. The profits are guaranteed for owners.

Sure, certain things aren’t shared, but it means little, and will never be enough to cause ego boy to admit he isn’t any good at building a winning NFL team.

I strongly admire your passion, and I’m pissed off as well, but what you’re suggesting is akin to taking a piss in the ocean and expecting it to turn green.

Vocal fans watching in dismay have zero effect on players playing better. Oakland Raiders had a loud, violent fanbase which never translated to consistent success over the last 20 years. Saints fans showed up with bags over their heads for multiple decades without success.

Philly fans have been the worst since the 70s and they have one SB to show for it. Passion from those not involved in the game does not translate into on the field performance.

I don't know. All I know is that none of our division rivals would allow this, or allow him to take the time he did with the radio station. And, I think I see an opportunity to possibly get us fans to challenge him. If he's sensitive to question, then surely, there's a way, no? Unless we just have to wait for the reaper twice?

That's true, all I know is that it's sickening to see. I love this team and I can't get rid of my passion even if I wanted to. But, at the same time, it hurts seeing us lose, and then get mocked by everyone. I put stars on my fursuit because I love the Cowboys.

Understood. But fans(fanatics) have to accept reality eventually. Dallas has bad ownership and a terrible roster. Anger from fans does not make sub par players stronger, run faster, hit harder, or more intelligent.

and ? Does that make you feel better I'm trying to get an understanding here that if this really is all true and you think things are never gonna change and you really think all those things are 100% facts and while the Jones family owns this team nothing's ever gonna change why are you here why are you following this team why are you literally still a fan that takes extra time out of their day to type something that long at least we're not like about 20 other teams in the NFLI know I'm gonna keep saying that and why those things might be true above this clown show you call the clown show it could be worse the grass is not always greener on the other side do I need to remind you that we are top 6IN regular season win percentage the last decade or more we've been to the playoffs 5 at last eight years we have regularly won our division in fact we won two division titles in the last three years and need to remind you that you do need to be relative in the regular season and we're still playing in primetime then as bad as things seem around here there are some franchises that wish they did some of those things I just mentioned that they are actually as terrible as you describe our team I realize we want better I realize we want more I realize we want to get past the second round of the playoffs and that's our biggest obstacle but there are other teams like the Cleveland Browns who haven't even won a division title I think since 1986..

Seriously,

as bad as people make things out to be for the Dallas Cowboys and the front office and how they don't do this they don't do that and regular GM would fix everything and we need a new ownership we need to move the team/!

I look around the NFL see none of those things are true they're definitely not true on a regular basis it'd be more an anomaly just like this whole all in attitude it works once a decade most teams who go all in have not been winning the Super bowls except for one once like I said an anomaly would be the Rams going get Matthew Stafford and loading up their team but the rest of these teams if winning the Super bowl is the goal they spent a lot of money in Philly and a lot of money even with San Francisco and yes I realize san Francisco's a better team the last decade than the Dallas Cowboys because they've done more in the playoffs but they still haven't won a Super Bowl since 1994..

So you can complain all you want, we can all complain all we want ,we can have our own opinions,

but remember the way you describe our team our team that could be the New York Giants and Washington that we beat on a regular basis the last decade we could be the Cleveland Browns or The Jets or the Broncos, they haven't done anything...

there are about 20 teams, I guarantee that wish and maybe it's only inside ,and they're not willing to admit it that our clown show GM in front office has been beating them on a regular basis as far as wins and making the playoffs and winning divisions winning 36 games and two division titles and going to the playoffs three straight years, it's not an embarrassment,

it's not being mediocre, it's not a clown show ,

yes it's falling short of where your goals should be and losing these games in a manner we've lost them at home is embarrassing and we should be upset but you all keep describing this team as if we are the Cleveland Browns and we're nowhere near as bad as them.

And again,

I mean 20 other teams that we're better than almost every year there's a reason we're still talked about all over the Internet on every talk show all content creators all media outlets and the league keep putting us in prime time, you don't do that for bad teams.

Let me say it, better yes, we are a bad playoff team,
we are bad at building a team that get us past the second round in the playoffs but we are not a bad NFL team in any way shape or form and I get it you want better,
but you guys don't realize the old saying the grass is not always greener on the other side... We can blow this team up and start from scratch like some teams have I mean what did the Oilers do they moved they became the Titans and now we have the Texans and neither one of those three teams have a Super Bowl not one amongst all three it happens a lot we seen the Browns do it they created a whole new team and have done nothing we've seen the Jaguars start out pretty well but lately what have they done they come always are blowing their team up they're always starting from scratch I think they have a new owner don't they and what has he done the last five years?

I'm just saying be careful what you wish for we all want better but the things you're asking for are not automatic blueprints for success yo are you watching a different NFL than I am?

We watch teams with regular ownership regular front offices that do regular things with regular GMs, constantly be bad every year make worse decisions than Jerry they pay their quarterbacks and a lot of their players that never end up ever doing anything in the playoffs either....

I'm not saying what you wrote is all untrue, and you're not wrong for saying it,

but I think the way fanbase is described this team in this front office you need to compare it against about 25 other teams that are not better than us yearly we want to be the Kansas City Chiefs but so do everybody else maybe we want to be a little more aggressive like Philly but Philly hasn't done much either they have won Super Bowl and their entire existence and yes lately they got to another Super Bowl but we beat them in the division on a regular basis I mean yes the 49ers are super aggressive they have a great team and they haven't won a Super Bowl since 1994 and yes they are better than us but we're talking about 5 other teams that maybe are on a regular basis better than the Dallas Cowboys but the rest of them are you really that delusion that you think our team is really that bad you're calling our front office a clown show and that they don't know what they're doing and they're clueless or delusional they're out of touch and yet we're still one of the top teams in the NFL on a regular basis what by accident?

If anyone's been swallowing all the *stuff* Jerry been spewing...this season is JUST DESSERTS.

It should be plain for all to see: If you are giving the Cowboys your unconditional support, you are part of the problem. Jerry is taking that support for granted and not doing his level best. Doing your level best is checking YOURSELF TOO.

After 3 consecutive 12 win seasons with nothing to show for it, I think this team needs a couple of years like this one. A team built only on the draft has to have a few high draft picks to get quality players at certain positions. The Cowboys desperately need a top 10 draft pick or 2. Picking in the late 20s forces them to draft 2nd round talent in the first round, unless they trade down and that is not up to them alone. Other teams have to be willing to move up.

We just have to believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. It seems bleak right now because Jerry committed so much money to two players but I think after this year we will see an entirely new coaching staff, and maybe a new philosophy. A guy like Belichick, who I think Jerry is already planning to hire, would change the focus to defense, with a controlled offense. I am not convinced Belichick is the answer but I do think the change would be good.

Above all. I get that bad seasons happen. Sometimes we get a bad batch. I can understand that. I've never seen success, so, it's nothing new for me. What I don't like is having to question the effort of the FO. I can accept a bad season if they're doing their best. I can't when I think they are either sabotaging the season or just didn't give their all.

Well, exactly, and I think I have every right to be angry after this past offseason. I hate being angry with the team. It's not what I like to be. I prefer to be the happy horse I had been for a long time here. But, when I see the lack of effort in the offseason, and I see the season going the way it's going, it bothers me. I want to see effort from the FO.

Another retread with a nepo baby on the coaching staff and hot garbage OC decisions. No thank you.

Honestly, as angry as I am about the season, I would feel much better if I knew there was a plan for this. I don't know if it'll be Belichick. Frankly, I'd prefer someone like Ben Johnson, Glenn, Vrabel, or Flores. But, if there's at least a plan forward and a bad season is needed, then fine. I'll accept that. What I can't accept is feeling that there's a severe lack of effort from the FO, and it bothers me to see the team seemingly quit. I was hoping that would've changed after Garrett left. Apparently not

We all do but some of the descriptive words we use for our front office and our own team and players gets out of control it's on the wrong side of the words you should be choosing this is not a clown show we are not an embarrassment as a franchise... I'm just saying overall in the last decade we've been a lot better than the descriptive words being used around here yes we want to improve and yes we want to be better in the playoffs but there are so many more not just Cleveland I just use them as an example because they made all these changes on multiple times in the last 20 years they've changed cities change names change GMs ownership and coaching staff and nothing has changed it's happened in more than one example I would really like to see all these examples when teams do make these changes and how is this all of a sudden makes them better.

The only difference between a franchise with a traditional structured front office with regular GMs and accountability and a layer between ownership is a factor's accountability and they're fired that's it it makes the fan base happy that there's changes but almost never is there an automatic success right after or any team in long term success firing people and having more people accountable doesn't automatically make a blueprint to start being better.

That's all I'm saying I get why you wrote what you wrote I get why we're all upset we have a right we've had some embarrassing moments as a franchise especially in the playoffs but recently now these home games this would make anybody upset and you have every right to vent just like I'm doing now I'm just saying I don't like the descriptive words used Jerry is not the worst gym and owner in the league he has the skins on the wall to prove it not only does he have 3 championships and I know it was 30 years ago we're still only one of three teams that have three or more championships since 1989 as bad as things really feel and look they're not really as bad as our fan base chooses to use the descriptive words they act like we're like the worst franchise in the history of football because we don't have a regular GM and it's completely the opposite we would love to have a top five front office that does a little more makes a little more effort I get it but that's not a guarantee this will get better with a new ownership or a different GM structure..

I watched the NFL and I'm simply saying I get why we're mad we all want better but I'm just tired of being called below average mediocre like it's a clown show it's a circus around here it's really not it's not anywhere close to that..

I get it I really do I'm so frustrated right now I think I've made a record amount of rants the last three days and I was hoping to not even post this week since it's gonna be a bye week and I'm still feeling the pain in my balls right now lol. I mean I literally these home games and their last playoff game has left my balls very sore it feels like somebody's been just kicking me in the balls for a week straight LOL

so I get it I'm just sick of hearing how bad Jerry is yes he's not one of the top executives he's not one of the top GMs there's a lot of improvement that could and should be made and he's made mistakes but he is far and I mean far from the worst GM and ownership group in the league or we would not still be relative in prime time and winning all these games I'm just telling you the regular season doesn't matter but yes we should expect more we want more we're hungry for an NFC championship game we all want it...

And yes I'm still a little upset like when bland went down they leaned on Carson instead of going out and getting a veteran corner it didn't even have to be a big splash but one of those on the free agent list would have helped here what if it mattered I don't know but it would have been nice that he showed he cared in the same thing that's been happening with their pass rush I would've hoped that they would've brought in just a slightly bigger name with Shaq Lawson was still there and they bring in some dude I never heard of I get it I'd be upset too Jerry's counting on all these players coming off injury and us getting better and yes that's frustrating that he's waiting to see what happens instead of doing something like he did in 2018 with amari Cooper and just go out and get one name at any position that right now we need help at and go get it one just one I get it we don't need to be the most aggressive free agent team but we need to have an owner and GM that at least shows he cares a little they're just relying on the players they went into the season with because he knows they're all coming back and yes that's frustrating that they didn't go out and make one move yet.

Spit those pills out and keep on trucking! If you swallow them, that's on you.

Right, and I also don't like feeling this way. Do you think it's fun for me to make these threads? For crying out loud, I just got the link this week to secure my Chicago room. I would MUCH rather be making threads about how excited I am for MFF. I would MUCH rather make threads about how I am excited for an upcoming game, or breaking down something in excited for. I was wanting to make threads breaking down weaknesses and finding areas we have advantages on an opposing team. Instead, much like 2019 or 2020, it feels like I'm back to this stuff.

You've seen me on here before this season. I'm normally a much happier poster. It's just been difficult because of what I saw and what's transpired. Heck, my anger would be heavily reduced or removed if we were positioning for Jeanty and some better run stopping options. If this was a case like 2015 where it just didn't work and we could build up, fine, I can accept that too.

I think you get the picture with where my head is. I can accept a lot of different things. If I see that there's a positive direction that can be taken, I would gladly be among the first to take that position. However, the facts are the facts with where we are, and I can't turn a blind eye to the facts and reality.

Look, like I was saying to Blue blood, I take no pleasure in this kind of thread. I would much rather make the happier posts I normally make prior to this season. But, how? What's the plan? Where can I see something that says there's a positive way forward? The best thing I can think is maybe the season ends up in such a way where we get Jeanty and some great run stuffers. That would give me hope for the future.

We have to look at the world as it is...THEN hope. You can't hope first and then try to be objective. Won't happen.
