That’s false information you have there. Are you mixing him up with someone else? He played every game his last two seasons at Texas Tech without missing a single game.

He was first team All American last year and the Butkus Award winner as the nation’s best LB. You don’t win those honors being hurt.

Might be right. I just thought it was reported he had leg/foot issues all through school (didn't miss a lot of games) but always had lingering things? Just remembering draft reports I read. I was interested in him back during the draft but the injury stuff worried me at LB'er. I am not a fan of drafting LB's with any kind of injury stuff. I have PTSD from these guys..

I’m a Texas Tech season ticket holder for many years. Jacob Rodriguez was always healthy at Tech. May have had some minor ding or two but never kept him from playing.

In his debut Sunday for Miami, he had 14 tackles, the most of any rookie defender in the NFL last week and one of the top defensive performers in the entire league.

I’m not always high on Tech players in the draft. But Jacob Rodriguez is the real deal. If he stays healthy, he has the makings of a star. Injuries so far have not been an issue for him.

Started his college career as a QB at Virginia, transferred to Tech and became a LB and eventually the Butkus Award winner last year. Great story.

They need to stop drafting and relying on guys with questionable injury history, especially at LB. Lee, VanderEsch, now Overshown. The philosophy overall is really hurting the team. Don't care how talented the players are. Availability is huge

Demarvion Overshown was drafted in the 3rd round in 2023. A guy with great speed at LB, and a desire engine that ran high. He would have been drafted in earlier rounds that year had he not had a problematic injury history.

How bad was Overshown’s injury history? Let’s start with his 5 years at Univ of Texas:

• Between 2018 and 2022, the Longhorns played in 64 games including post season. He played in 50 of those 64 games.
• That was about 78% availability. Not great, but certainly better than his pro availability.

Since he was drafted in 2023, here is Overshown’s availability history in Dallas:

• He has played in 19 of the 52 regular season games he could have played in since his arrival in Big D.
• That is an availability rate of about 37%. Ouch.
• After his hamstring injury Sunday night in NY, he will be missing at least one game and maybe two.

Overshown is a hard working, committed young man. No one can question his heart or work ethic. He has twice worked through terrible knee injuries to return to the field. I feel bad for the young man’s luck with injuries.

But as the old saying goes, the first ability every professional athlete MUST have is availability. With an availability rate of 37%, we cannot keep holding a roster spot for a player who is constantly injured.

That may sound cold hearted but if we are committed to turning this thing around, you have to make hard decisions like this. Overshown is in a contract year. If I were the Cowboys FO, this would be his last year here.

Great football player, cant seem to learn how to control his chaos and its his downfall.

Isn't that the entire knock against Overshown? Talent does not help when it is unavailable.

You are right but 78 percent availability in college isn't real bad and not a marker for future availability. Every player is a crap shoot btw.

In a baseball analogy Josh Jung was a # 1 draft pick for the Texas Rangers and just a real key down the stretch at 3rd base with the glove and the bat when they won the World Series in 23 . Yet he can’t stay healthy . It’s one pulled muscle after another or a hit by pitch that breaks a bone etc . Fantastic young talent can’t stay healthy .
