Hardy Suspension Reduced to 4 games *Merge*

If I was Hardy's agent I would advise him to take this and move on. I would also tell him this is further proof that the NFL gave him 10 games to sound tough on DV with the full intention it would be reduced later after the press coverage died down.

Basically what some of us thought he would get. 2 games for domestic violence and 2-4 games for mitigating circumstances. I think this is why they went to such lengths to detail specific instances so that they could get games tacked on for mitigating circumstances.

I don't know that he would get more games taken off since the league will have some discretion on mitigating circumstances. I thought he could have gotten 6 games total since they tried to detail 4 instances of abuse (and hence 4 instances of mitigating circumstances).

I do think that they are still tryign to find a way to use the new framework and apply it retroactively, but 4 games is reasonable and may not be reduced further.

2 games was a pipe dream, but I am good with 4. He comes back same time as Ro, right?

What are the cap implications of 4 games? Does the money have to be set aside now or at what point do they need to show that those funds are available? I think it's all NLTBE based on last year, but I assume you still need reserve the cap space to pay the guy at some point

WAR!!!! TWO GAMES OR DIE!!!

I'm under the impression that the NFL doesn't have the right to suspend him more than two games due to to when the infraction occurred vs when the rule was changed that allowed for more than two games.

FIGHT!

This is good news, but probably a precursor to Brady's being eliminated completely.

Somehow, I think both guys will be playing in that game.

That said, why wouldn't Hardy take this to court anyway? Worst case scenario, he loses and serves his four games. Best case he misses no games and make over $2 million more.

Let's assume Hardy does fight this more. How long would it take for a decision to be made? It has been a month and a half for this decision to occur. If another appeal took as long or longer then that takes this into the season. There is a benefit about just accepting 4 games. You know where you stand right now. If you appeal, then everything lingers into training camp and pre-season. It is hard to compartmentalize preparing for the regular season and wondering what the result of your appeal is going to be.

his legal fees for that could result in him breaking even - that's a good enough reason to not proceed.

I read somewhere that attorney costs were getting out of control for Hardy.

Not likely. The dude is a millionaire and has a massive contract already signed. Someone is just blowing bubbles up your butt.

If he wanted to fight it, he could file for an injunction staying his suspension pending the results of the court case. It would likely be granted.
