So much speculation going around I thought I'd throw a different perspective out there (Or maybe it's already been posted.) Perhaps Jerry is waiting to see if Goodell is going to suspend Hardy a few games or a full season before he makes his offer. Perhaps Jerry already knows something that the media doesn't.

My guess is that it's a wait and see approach and based on the ruling (If there is one,) he will use that as leverage in his negotiations. It could be that he would rather draft somebody and bring in a low tier younger FA with more upside and potential that has yet to be tapped into ala Mincey..

This isn't, nor is it even days away from being a different perspective. In fact, it's been one of the most ever-present theories the whole time.

general managers do know things we don't know - they have better medical info. they know about prior drug tests. they know which players create problems in locker rooms. etc, etc.

but Jerry doesn't have any special insight that other clubs don't also have.

It's speculated that he is suspended for 1-2 games.

He already sat out 15 games last year. Charges in his case were dropped, he'd have a really good chance of winning an appeal against it.

Dallas should pull the trigger.

He won't miss any more time. Even if the league tries to throw this down. He will appeal and an arbitrator will laugh in Gooddell's face and throw the suspension out. If anything, Hardy could probably file a grievance and win. I don't think he will since he didn't lose any money last season, but there is no way you can say it hasn't cost him a fortune this season.

Havent they said he is going to be suspended 2 games

Pretty much. This is not Jerry Jones having a special scoop.

I think Goodell is going to drop the hammer on Hardy and probably get him blackballed like he did Rice or at the very least sanctioned like Peterson.

Look, I get the domestic violence is bad, m'kay thing. But I think that the league is getting socially conscious in a fake way for something that has been "tarnishing the shield" for decades.

I just don't see it. I think JJ and Co are doing their due diligence and kicking the tires on this guy.

How would Jerry use this as leverage in negotiations? The other 31 GM's and Hardy's agent know just as much as Jerry.

To haggle..

All 31 GMs will haggle the same way, so it probably does not comparative good. But I get your point. If he's only playing 14 games, he might cost a little less for this year.

The bigger negotiating point, to me, is that the guy is one hit of a woman away from a year's suspension, so cant guarantee him too much money.

Yeah that's all part of the leverage. Hardy ur a risk, yada yada yada..

All I know is some Gold Digger found out she was replaceable and threw herself off a balcony onto a pile of Oliver North's Weapons Cache in an attempt to get paid one last time since she realized she would never be one of those Atlanta House "Wives."

Yeah, I feel you there bro. My thread wasn't meant as a crying thread. Just another theory I didn't see either. Same as you.
