Harold Landry?

Worry about 2019, well next year. Given the enoumus salary cap space available next year especially. Use the players the Cowboys have this year. Use the draft pick on a player who can help this year....1T, LB or S. You still need a DE one year from today? Then draft one.

I need good players now.

DE, DT, LB, S, CB, OL, WR, RB, FB, whatever.

Trade up, trade down, just get me some players.

If the team likes Harold Landry, which they appear to, and he's unexpectedly available, he'll play this season.

He won't be put on layaway until 2019.

I can only support taking him at 19 if he legally changes his first name to Tom. Then again, if he does that, JJ will just fire him and not let him know until another player is using his locker.

He is peaking my interest.

Definitely could improve against the run, but is such a ridiculously gifted pass rusher I would take him with a wide smile .

No need to listen to xwalker player comparisons. Neither of those players possessed his natural bend and dip move. If he had posted similar numbers as the previous 2 seasons (prior to ankle injury this season), he would not be a possibility at 19. He could be a 12 sack guy or better. And he forces tons of fumbles when he gets his sacks.

Unfortunately we reached for soft Taco last year so he will probably get passed by. Sad.

Counterpoint, it may actually work to our advantage TO get Landry. Taco is 6'6 and 270 lbs. Harold Landry is 6'3 and 250 lbs. Therefore, they would play completely opposite sides at DE, and would thus be completely different DEs. Landry, as I saw someone say earlier, is much closer to Randy Gregory's style of play without the drug issues. Therefore, he actually fits in perfectly with our dline.

Unless they arent sold on Taco or they want Landry because they dont think they can work something out with D.Law. Or the team really wants as many talented DE they can get in this passing league known as the NFL

That'd be the other advantage to drafting Landry. Landry and Dlaw would play more on the same side. Therefore, Landry gives us MUCH more leverage. Plus, I think he's an impact player day 1, so it means we may not have to worry about letting go of DLaw which means a comp pick for us.

Marinelli's rush first, play the run on the way to the QB scheme causes many players to look silly at first. It is easy to get caught out of position on run plays.

Gregory was one of the best players his size against the run that I've seen in college.

Do you think Gregory should bulk up a little? I think just a tad.

Other than DLaw:

Crawford = 4 sacks
Charlton = 3 sacks
Tapper = 1 sack
Ealy = 1 sack
Gregpry = 0 sacks

You are absolutely right. We have no need for DE with all of the scrubs currently occupying space at that position on our roster.
Bingo!!!

Reminds me of some all time great players like Vernon Gholston and Aaron Maybin.

Shocking that we disagree. But what do I know. You were the guy that thought Chaz Green was the next great tackle for us. LOL

He started playing well at the end of last year. Chill out a little. Everyone thought D-Law was a bust, too

Reach? How? Most mocks had him in the teens. Some into the 20's. He was very good value at 28.

Reach as in there were better players at other positions available and we took the the DE ranked lower because of need. And sadly enough, there were better DE's on the board when we drafted.

What's the problem?

I don't know how things will play out, but so far it appears Taco Charlton is being looked at as a SDE behind DeMarcus Lawrence.

Tyrone Crawford and Kony Ealy are our options at WDE.

And Harold Landry was one of the team's 30 allowed national visitors, that should tell you all you need to know.

The problems is that we took a DE last year. So its unlikely we take another one this year in the eyes of Jerry Jones.

Wait until he piques it.

Interesting point.
