Harris notes post Combine: Who will Cowboys target in FA?

The list of FAs to monitor are fairly uninspiring. Was hoping the Cowboys would be more aggressive than that this season. Dean would be a very good player to bring in, but you certainly need to double down at LB in the draft or FA if you go that route. Depending on him to play 1000 snaps isnt a recipe for success.

Give me a strong headliner. I'd rather invest in fewer strong assets that cost more than a larger number of average ones. You have a talent like Q Williams on your defense I think its a mistake to not go after another top piece that forces offenses to game plan around. Not a full list but some names I'd explore

Dream signings - Give me just one of these guys and I'll be happy:
  • LB Devin Lloyd - And I'd be ok overpaying to get him here
  • LB Devin Bush - I have some concerns with this one, but I'd be just fine with the Cowboys taking a swing at him...even if he turns out to be a miss.
  • EDGE Odafe Oweh - Prototype 3-4 edge and gives you a solid player in that room and keeps you from forcing a pick in the draft.
  • EDGE Trey Hendrickson (Although I'm not a huge fan of his and think hed be a quirky fit here getting a legitimate 15+ sack guy on the same LOS as Q would be a massive impact)
  • S Bryan Cook - IMO the best secondary player in FA this year
  • CB Jaylon Watson - My fear is he gets way overpaid hitting FA at 27 years old coming off a great season, but Spotrac has him around a $12m per year market value....if you can get him at that price its solid #2 CB money and gives the Cowboys a much better outlook at the position.

2nd wave players if the other list is too expensive:
  • LB Leo Chenal - Worried he might get too expensive, but would be a fantastic early down only type backer if you can get him around $5m per year.
  • CB Tariq Woolen - Love the upside he brings given his size (6'4" 205lbs) and really elevated his game as the season went on. Good plan B if Watson ends up being too expensive
  • S Cameron Kurl

3rd wave players I'd look at
  • CB Cam Taylor-Britt - Could be sneaky good value....Coming off a bad year, but playing CB for the Bengals isn't exactly an easy job. Get him a stronger pass rush with a better supporting cast and I could see him improving. Only 26 years old too.
  • T Jonah Williams - Could come very cheap due to injury issues, and be reasonable competition for Guyton. Had the best year of his career under Klayton Adams
  • LB Alex Singleton - Run down specialist who probably needs taken off the field for 3rd downs...but we could use that. Could be a cheaper/older Leo Chenal type if hes too expensive
