Has anyone seen the Garrett quotes lately?

There's a context to what Jerry says?

You need to be able to read between the lines but yeah Jerry often speaks in codes.

Example: Yes we love player X and we like what he brings to the team.
Dude gets cut the following week..:D

So we just chalk this up as Jerry is stupid and nothing will change with Romo's involvement in the offense this year?

We'll get another year of the Garrett offense? Yay.

No the team will be healthier this year and there will be fewer turnovers and we will win more games as a result...

Nope, we can chalk it up to you misinterpreting an article.

Was going to be Garrett's offense either way. Wasn't like Romo was going to install his own system.

No, it will be Callahan's offense and Garrett will be the puppet head coach. Heck, he has already proven his vanilla play calling is not going to cut it.

I guess so.

Garrett has to lose some control of the playcalling.

The NFL has evolved from what he learned as a player.

It's a faster and more spread out game. This choppy, no rhythm style of play doesn't fit the players we have.

I think what it comes down to is Jerry is totally ignorant to the bait that the media uses to sensationalize a situation. When the media gets JJ off in a tangent of which he cannot recover (which is usual), it sells to the public. Kind of like a freak show interview since he cannot finish a statement without putting a foot in his mouth. It's almost commical to try to comprehend it. But it sells.
JG has the job of robotically modifiying JJ words into what is really happening and going to happen in TC so there's no more drama and just the ordinary.
The media gets off on taking JJ into a rollercoaster ride to get "dramatic and off the wall" stuff to write about to sell their information.
JG serves as boring realist the press hates because he's not interesting and sounds like a robot with day to day activities. This does not make for interesting reading or for selling newspapers and websites commentaries.
You have a choice to believe what you want. An old oil man that sells the flea circus year after year or the coach who 's just trying to win in spite of the owners ignorance and mouth.

I think as most things end up fans and critics spin things they way they see fit. I think this has all been about nothing but people are running with it.

Guess we have a lot of cheese eaters around here.

I say for too long we've had coaches that would simply parrot what Jerry was saying. Good for Jason saying what he feels and not just verifying what comes out of Jones' mouth.

That is as good a sign as any.

Jerry rambles all the time and you just have to look past what he says to what is really going on.

Garrett is clear, concise, and to the point.

There is no contradiction here if you just pay attention. So many here are like a bunch of women sitting around a bridge table overthinking what somebody said and looking for the meaning behind it all and what the intent of the speaker was and then trying to put it all together with illogical perceptions about it all.

Yes, I did notice that. When Jerry gave his Sirius/XM interview a couple days ago he stressed that all this Romo involvement in gameplanning and playcalling was a new development. Then Garrett comes out and says nothing is really changing. He doesn't want to admit anything might be different, much like when the change in playcaller was the topic after the season.

Very defensive. But that's really how he's always been.

And oh by the way, it has nothing to do with any "mediot" saying that. It's an observation anyone can see if they pay attention.

Jason and Jerry don't sound like they're on the same page, to me. Jerry's saying things publicly which I think are not in the best interest of the team, but that get a lot of attention for Dallas. Jason's so good on his feet, that he's trying to spin it as if Tony's role is evolving in it's natural progression and that that's what Jerry's talking about. Those two things don't mean the same thing, but they're close enough that you can see the reporters in Dallas getting confused by the sounds of the words and unsure about how else to ask that same question.

That said, it's a public disconnect that doesn't mean all that much, but which is annoying to see. If Jerry has his way with the storyline, it just ratchets up the pressure on Tony if the offense is sluggish. Or hurts Garrett if the offense is more successful. There's no upside here for the team other than a few days of additional offseason press coverage.

Anyone who watched the past draft war room saw who was in charge and making the decisions. That would be Jerry Jones. Garrett didn't do jack squat except talk to JJ's daughter a good deal of the time.

After two years of underperforming, Garrett has no clout and is in no position to bite the hand that feeds him. To me, it looks like Jerry Jones has made a few things clear to Garrett and on certain things it is Jerry's way or the highway. This is one of those things. Listen to Jerry.

Brian Broaddus was on the radio last night telling the guys on The Fan that all this hype about Romo spending more time at VR was silly.

He said that inside of Valley Ranch there has never been any question about how much time Romo spends studying with any coach that will spend late hours watching film--especially Wade Wilson and Jason Garrett.

He says when everyone elee is gone there will be one guy still there...and it is Romo.

He said he's known him since he came into the league (and was a part of the staff that brought him in) and said he is one of, if not THE, hardest worker they have.

He also said in the last 2-3 years (once he had 2-3 years under his belt) he has become very involved in strategy and play design.

However, it sounds to me like he will have more say now to override some hard-wired parts of the game plan on certain drives if they appear to not relate to what is going on in the game....especially on the road (like at washington) when nobody can hear anything.

As for that stuff about the draft. Garrett's role on draft day is not to be on the phones. They had a draft board, and except for possibly round one, they stuck to it.
All of that was established before draft day.
I'm not a grrett defedner, but what did anyone expect Garrett to do exactly?
Again, except for possibly that trade down in round 1.

Umm, no. They were even discussing this on Sirius NFL radio this morning. Talking about how Jerrah and Garrett are not on the same page. They pointed out several instances.

Good points. I think/hope that JG and TR and the rest of the staff/team (at this point) are rolling their eyes at any JJ comments (public or private). they probably joke about it in private. I would think that even Stephan is in on the jig and they all just let JJ play with his toys (media events/stadium/payroll checks) while the real football strategy is going on underneath with real football minds. If JG, SJones and TR do not see eye to eye on most everything then there is a problem. I just don't think that is the case however since there seems to be little if any rifts with TR and JG.

No they are not. Jason is saying that Romo's involvement is nothing out of the ordinary. He's basically trying to keep the mediots from blowing it out of proportion. So the mediots are trying to make it come off as they are saying opposite things instead.

But they are definitely giving Romo more input. He use to give his input at the end of the week on things he did not like. Now they will talk to him on Tuesday where he will be able to have input on things that he does like.

Maybe so. On Wednesday, Stephen made a joke about Romo's new coaching responsibilties....

" I just think Tony's got a lot on his plate with his new role as coach" ..Stephen Jones joked.

This is good and I hope Stephan's backing the JG role in this latest "JJ rift". SJones questionable responses in the draft PC's were very concering however I just took it as he was hopefully just trying to back his Father's lack of awareness/explanation/understanding what the concerns were about the 1st round.
In other words I hope Stephan is really smarter than what he let on when justifying the 1st round fiasco. "I don't remember if we called SF or they called us", discussion to the press after the draft because he sounded like JJ for a minute and OMGoodness that is scary.
