Jerry Jones has never had a realistic view of what is going on with his team!

I honestly have no idea what to believe.

Garrett made the situation blurry.

I was watching the Spurs and Warriors game on ESPN and after the game Sportscenter came on and in the lead they asked the question "who is in charge in Dallas?"

I was curious what they would say and basically its what CATCH has been saying, that Garrett said nothing has changed with Romo's role and Jerry says Romo is now basically the OC.

So its not some made up conspiracy here at the Zone, it was on the freaking teaser lead in on Sportcenter 30 seconds after the NBA playoff game ended. Some of you guys owe CATCH an apology for saying he misinterpreted the article and he is just trying to stir things up, ect......

I flipped the channel to ESPN 2 and NFL Live was on and they were talking about the contradiction between Jerry and Garrett. Jason Taylor said this whole thing makes Garrett look week infront of the team.

The media just played right into Jerry's hands. They need fodder to talk about in the offseason, and Jerry gives it to them. Then they sit around like the bunch of empty talking heads they are and try to de-code the latest version of Jerry-speak. And in the process he keeps them talking about the Cowboys instead of the NBA playoffs.Brilliant!

IMO, it's clear what is going on but JG does not want to let the cat out of the bag (so to speak). Going back to the end of the season, JJ promised changes and an uncomfortable offseason. However, JG has always been VERY sensitive about giving up play calling duties. JJ comment back in January was clear when he said we have to do something different...

JG, however, has constantly said that he wants to keep the responsibility and even said it the best thing for Romo. Every time JG has been asked about the situation, JG has said that no decision has been made yet. Why all the secrecy?

Then, JJ lets the world know that TR will spend Peyton Manning type time at the Ranch and be much more involved. He even says that TR wants to be an OC when he's done playing. This makes the Manning comment all that more interesting because no QB in the NFL has more playcalling freedom than Manning.

Now, back to JG who has been coy on playcalling but while acknowledging that its natural for any QB to have more input the older they get etc.

One last thing to consider... The offense last year was clearly at its best in the 2 minute drill. Everybody saw this. When Romo was in no huddle and had a greater influence on playcalling, the offense scored points. There were some games that it clear as day. The offense struggled mightily until Romo was allowed to take charge.

When we put everything together, I think it's clear that Romo is going to have close to Peyton Manninng control on the offense. This is the change that Jerry promised. And, JG should be coy about announcing something like that right now because that would only put added pressure on Romo if he is hounded by media about his increased roll in playcalling.

Garrett is just taking some of the pressure off, the last thing we need is to call a bad play call and have Romo be booed. Jerry just likes to talk out his arse.

You need to be able to read between the lines but yeah Jerry often speaks in codes.

Example: Yes we love player X and we like what he brings to the team.
Dude gets cut the following week..:D

Yeah, it's just tough to pick up through all the umm's, ahh's, double speak and backpedaling. Classic example of needing to not listen to what someone is saying, but rather what he's doing.

Just like Jason Garrett said he never minded not calling the plays... JG is in more spin control than anybody else. I, for one, am glad that JG is getting demoted.

Yes, I did notice that. When Jerry gave his Sirius/XM interview a couple days ago he stressed that all this Romo involvement in gameplanning and playcalling was a new development. Then Garrett comes out and says nothing is really changing. He doesn't want to admit anything might be different, much like when the change in playcaller was the topic after the season.

Very defensive. But that's really how he's always been.

And oh by the way, it has nothing to do with any "mediot" saying that. It's an observation anyone can see if they pay attention.

Exactly... This is typical Jason Garrett being very defensive about the fact he's essentially getting play-calling duties stripped away from him. The reality is, his performance has stunk. You can only play politician so long, before you start getting called out for your performance.

Anyone who watched the past draft war room saw who was in charge and making the decisions. That would be Jerry Jones. Garrett didn't do jack squat except talk to JJ's daughter a good deal of the time.

At the same time, it wasn't an ill-informed decision. JJ took the advice of Marinelli and Kiffin and passed on Floyd. He listened to sages of defense and they told him, Floyd wasn't the pass rusher they needed. If it comes to Marinelli telling you about a player on DL not going to cut it, then you listen to him over JG.

JG is in no position now to be getting a bigger leash. He's had enough freedom to do what he wanted and he's blundered himself into this position.

How is he getting demoted? Did Sean Payton get demoted in NO? after all Brees is very active with the offensive staff in putting together the game plan.

Garrett has said Romo has been involved if now he will be even more involved great as long as it helps this team win. You guys are about a petty as can be.

It's a demotion in the sense that Romo will have more power to control the offense, tempo, and call his own plays. Traditionally, JG would call 2 plays and Romo would have the ability to "kill" the original playcall (at least until the team went no huddle). Now, it seems that Romo will have more say. I really think this helps the offense quite a bit. Honestly, JG was never good at playcalling. And, he seemed to always get in the plays late. I honestly have more trust in Romo to call plays to exploit a defense because we've seen him do it in the no huddle.

People are assuming how things will operate, if you think Garrett will have no part in the offense or the ability to override then you are kidding yourself. In the end Garrett as HC will take responsibilty of the play of this team offense, defense and special team. I expect Romo will be working much closer with the staff but at the end of the day it will all fall back to Garrett.

It's not a demotion in any sense. JG was the team's HC, and he's still the team's HC. Responsibilities might change, but it's not like Jason's going to be sitting there less-busy this season than he was last season. If he's freed up in one place, he'll be involved in another.

But this is exactly the sort of nonsense that gets invited when Jerry shoots his mouth off about stuff like this. It's an unnecessary distraction and going to be part of a running commentary from here until camp. It's the flipside of the play-calling nonsense that would not stop right after the season ended.
