News: Has Dak or his agent considered a team friendly contract?

I'm sure they've considered it as much as the team has considered a player-friendly one.

It's also worth mentioning: comparing him to Mahomes is dumb for many reasons.

First, Mahomes got 1st round money already at least. He signed a 4 year, 16-something million dollar contract. Dak signed a 4 year, 4-something million dollar rookie contract. Mahomes made more doing nothing as a rookie than we paid Dak in his entire 4-year contract. Mahomes has already been compensated much more fairly.

Second, Mahomes is still years away from being at the point Dak is at -- the team controls him for a couple more seasons before they even have to sign him or tag him. Teams who extend players years early, like if the Chiefs did that right now, typically pay less money because the player has less leverage and is willingly trading some money in exchange for getting his payday earlier just for the peace of mind and for the immediate gratification (not to mention the time value of money).

Third, Mahomes can say whatever he wants to say, just like Dak arguably said all the right things too (explaining why our idiot fans all assumed we'd be able to browbeat him into accepting less than he's worth). Until Mahomes signs anything, comparing Dak to the hypothetical team-friendly deal you think Mahomes might sign in this fictional scenario is stupid.

Fourth: Mahomes was the son of a professional athlete who made multiple millions of dollars. His relationship to money might bear no resemblance to Dak's, who grew up with a single mom whose earning potential wasn't the same as Mahomes' dad. It's the reason why unpaid internships used as entry points in industries create an unfair advantage for rich kids, because people who have no concept of needing to make money or provide thanks to their rich parents, can afford to work for peanuts without it affecting their quality of life. Mahomes has wealthy family and has already made many times what Dak has made.

Fifth: Mahomes off-field earning potential is higher so he can afford to take less from the team and make it back more easily. He's more visually distinct, like a cartoon, so he has a higher ceiling based just on being recognizable and having a more distinct look. Second, he doesn't have a local fanbase that hates him for cosmetic reasons the way our fans tend to hate people who possess the trait Dak has. So even if their national advertising income chances were comparable, Mahomes will rake in more local money if he chooses simply because his fanbase isn't a dumpster fire of toxic grossness.
All I heard was a defense for greed on Daks part and I disagree with your fifth point 100%

His agent will get him 40+. If he signed for 32 a year then I would be impressed. Still won’t stop Dak from asking for more.

What trait is that?

Why should DAK give the Cowboys a team friendly deal? Is he surrounded by a championship team and organization where he was the only thing holding them back? Has he not played, whether at the highest level or when struggling, as a 4 year starter with two trips to the playoffs for peanuts without a single complaint? Everything about the Cowboys and Dak's negotiations right now is pure speculation. Fans are assuming a great deal about him just because he isn't signed yet. Every day he reads that the Cowboys have tons of cap space and can do whatever they want; they are not hard against the cap, and they are not allowing players to walk because they truly can't afford them, but because they are deciding who is worth how much. Dallas didn't even come close to using their cap money this past season, so why should Dak give up a couple million per year?

Because Dak has shown that he struggles when not surrounded but top-tier talent. That talent requires money. Dak is not top-tier talent. He's average at best, he should be given a contract that matches his play. It doesn't matter if other teams were dumb and gave huge contracts to average players. What have those teams done since giving out those contracts?

My point is it's a stupid question to ask why a young guy who just came off of making peanuts for 4 years on his rookie contract would give a team a home team discount.....what other players do that in the NFL? It's extremely rare, even among multi-millionaire vets who have already made big money.

It's one thing to say Dak doesn't deserve it; that's an argument to discuss. But why should he sign a team friendly contract? He should get what he can get, the same as a fast food cook, an accountant, or a CEO. He certainly owes the Dallas Cowboys nothing at this point, and if he can get more money from Jerry or another team, of course he should.

We will see when he actually is negotiating a contract
I’ll take bets he gets by far the largest contract ever given
I'm sure you're right.
But the point is, that he may not ask for the maximum that he can get.
Two different things

Does he top the largest ever by 2 mil per year or 5 mil year?

Ah maybe we should get Dak to create a sports consulting firm the Cowboys can employ and dump large sums of money into like Brady does with the Patriots. I forgot the exact type of business he has but no wonder he's willing to take less on paper. He's probably getting a lot more funneled through his company because of this deal he's got. Leave it to the Patriots to always find a way to get an edge.
Jealous.

Everybody wants to be like the Pat's until they get caught.

Dak is a team guy who has completely removed himself from the business side of this sport. The endorsement deals keep coming so why would Dak have any doubt in his agent's ability to get him the best deal possible? Agent, Todd France and the company he works for, Creative Artists Agency (CAA) have no interest what so ever in giving the Cowboys a "team-friendly" deal for Dak's long term services. For France, Dak is the goose that lays the golden eggs and he intends to drain that goose dry of all the gold, even if that means his client ends up getting paid by a different team. The problem is, Dak is probably not valued more than he is by the Jones boys. If France ends up alienating them to the point no deal is reached and Dak holds out, they may end up with no goose at all. Dak will come to his senses eventually, he has switched agents before. The question is, will it be in time to save his stock with the Joneses?

I actually hope the Mahomes deal gets done rather quickly because it sets a cap on Dak's deal. He can't seriously put himself in Mahome's zip code. Mahomes taking a cap friendly deal would help the Cowboys a lot.
Wouldn't have an effect. Prescott's price is his price to the Cowboys, they don't have a shot at Mahomes. And "team friendly" has a lot of wiggle room.

Didn't he and his agent back out of an agreed upon contract of 33M per year? I honestly don't think Dak wants to be here for whatever reason.
