Has Dak Peaked?

Dak hasn't shown that he's reached the next level in his QB progression. Early on, his mobility was a big asset to compensate for his lack/limitations of passing ability.
Now, he doesn't display that same zeal to use his running ability, mainly due to his hesitation from injuries and his seeming want to prove that he is a legitimate passer.
He is still a quality QB but he has yet to show he is a Force Multiplier as a QB. FM's elevate their team and overcome player limitations. He hasn't shown that ability and now we are stuck paying him as a top QB and we may not see him reach that FM level. I think the struggles by his Oline have taken a toll and he doesn't seem as confident and that affects his accuracy.
He seems to gain a lot of his stats during garbage time after the team has fallen behind by double digits. He teases a comeback but seems to come up short more times than not.

How embarassing that someone thinks that breaking all kinds of Cowboy's passing records and finishing top 5 in multiple passing categories does not equate to "elite passer"

I would never categorize what NY and Washington is currently mired in as "mediocrity".

They are in the trainwreck category.

It’s a fine line. Dak was paid because our FO shared your concerns. Finding a good QB is difficult. But I prefer the Denver/Philly approach where you load up the roster and wait for the right QB to become available.

Since Dak entered the league, only 3 QBs have more game winning drives: Brady, Rodgers, and Wilson. Yes, he has fallen short at times as well. That speaks to how often the Cowboys have found themselves in that position during his tenure.

As to your original question, the only improvement I think we can realistically hope for is faster reads. Physically, of course, things will decline over time. Dak is what he is - good, not great. The notion some have that he "sucks" is ridiculous, but he's not "elite" either.

Let's face it. The only good Dallas QBs since Aikman were found by accident.

this is pretty much the read on dak he is a good but not great qb i just dont think he will ever win a superbowl in his total time in the nfl i simply believe he is not good enough

Dak is not an elite passer. Anyone can see that by just watching the games. Just watch the games. It's no different than when you were growing up and knew who among your friends were the better athletes. You just watched what people did.

Yeah he’s great at throwing 5 TD’s vs garbage teams. He’s a good QB. Elite players do that every week though.

I don't think so, This season posted more TD than any other season, highest completion rate and 2nd highest QB rating. I think he is capable of more. I also look for him being a year past the injury to run the ball a bit more when things break down or an opening present itself.

Good post. I think Dak has room to grow if he wants to. He tends to be a little more aggressive when we start to fall behind. But for the most part, he doesn't take chances downfield like Stafford or Romo would on a consistent basis. That's how he keeps his picks down.

Your last sentence is what we've seen for the last 3 years. But I wouldn't put that all on him. That also coincides with Moore taking over as OC. Before that, we didn't have this pattern. That started in 2019.
