You know what I don't understand? Every year Eli wins a few games and everyone gets all hyped up over it like FINALLY ELI HAS ARIVED! and then he goes back to his normal self. Why does the media and New York continue to put themselves through this? After 4 years in the league lets look at his stats.

YearTeamAttCompPctAtt/GYdsAvgYds/GTDTD%IntInt%Lng20+40+SckSckYRate2007Giants 22713760.432.41,5256.7217.9135.794.060T17473982.92006Giants 52230157.732.63,2446.2202.8244.6183.455T3382518677.02005Giants 55729452.834.83,7626.8235.1244.3173.178T4982818475.92004Giants 1979548.221.91,0435.3115.963.094.652114138355.4TOTAL1,50382755.031.39,5746.4199.5674.5533.578110247349274.6

Tony Romo After 1 season and 1 game...

So someone please explain to me how everyone can jump on their jock every year after they beat a few garbage teams? Shocky's stats don't match up against Wittens, Witten stat wise is far more better and last year we had 2 WR's with over 1000 yards eli has never had that so our WR's are far better. Our running backs compared to theirs well theirs are a joke so we can just move on. The only thing that they have better then us is a good pass rush. Other then that we are far better... Oh and we have a better record then they do lol.

I dont know why the bother covering any QB but Romo?!

:)

I agree he seems to falter, but this is only his 4th year. He is on a 5 game winning streak leading a team not expected to play well. QB should get credit. What do you expect them to say about a guy who's leading a 5-2 team and is 4th in TDs?

This year the Giants are averaging 217 passing yards per game but their opponents allow on average 256 passing yards per game. This is not a huge margin as there are worse teams (but there are not many... Minnesota, Carolina, Chicago, Cleveland, Atlanta, 49ers, then Giants).

The current hype circling the giants leads one to believe they are a great team, they are not. They are winning the games, but they are beating easy teams (Eagles, Jets, Atlanta, 49ers, Commanders). If we can eliminate the big pass plays we can easily beat the Giants again. Last time Plexico had 8 receptions for 144 yards and Toomer had 9 receptions for 91 yards, but we have grown as a defense.

Rushing wise, their stats show they are average amongst the league. They get good yards per game but they are playing weak run defenses, defenses allowing an average 125 rushing yards per game, the giants get about 130 rushing per game.

Comparing Dallas Vs Giants Offensive Performance

Dallas Avg Rush Yards Per Game: 130
Opponents Avg Rush Yards Allowed Per Game: 117

Dallas Avg Passing Yards Per Game: 271
Opponents Avg Passing Yards Allowed Per Game: 225

Giants Avg Rush Yards Per Game: 130
Opponents Avg Rush Yards Allowed Per Game: 125

Giants Avg Passing Yards Per Game: 217
Opponents Avg Passing Yards Allowed Per Game: 256

Okay this is true, He is only in his 4th year but Romo has just passed the 16 game mark and is putting up way better numbers. His first year as a starter he took the boys to the playoffs and this year started the season 5-0 and leads one of the best O's in the NFL. We are the best team in the NFC and have the third best record in the NFL. If you want to talk about giving credit where credit is due then how about the boys? They are the best team in the NFC and have already beaten the Giants once this year but yet all I hear is how great they are and how they are the best team in the NFC right now. Give me a break, They are pretenders and time will prove that. All I can think of is that the media is trying to start the hype for Dallas vs New York 2 early because they can't realy think that this team is one of the best in the NFC.

Sorry about the stats thing it didn't look like that when I pasted it.

You know...I didnt realize till now, but this is a really good way to compare teams. Any kind of +/- margin from average opponents stats. IMO.
Maybe I should put something together for league wide stats just for my own sake.

Its a nice way to find inefficiencies and if teams are performing at or below average. I have a huge stat section I use to review matchups before I make my weekly picks.

This is the sum of opponents YPG averaged less team's YPG average. As you can see Minnesota is leaving 107 passing yards out there (their QB is bad), but they are taking more rushing yards then the teams they played usually allow (57 more yards). The dark red is 1 standard deviation below the mean, dark green is above, white is the middle bottom 50% on both ends of +1 and -1. Have fun :)

I think we are better than the Giants but I'll admit they are playing some good football right now and I expect another close battle with them when we meet up again in a little over 2 weeks.

I dont like Eli. Just discussing this topic.

I think Romo has a year on Eli, 27-26 years old. They took different paths. Eli will not be at the same experience level as Romo until next year.
Eli doesnt have a great passer rating but if you look at numbers, yards, TDs, Wins, he is near the top of the league.

I am not sure I understand why to evaluate Eli you need to look at Romo? Obviously Romo is playing better. I haven't seen Eli above Romo is anyone's rankings. Does Romo not get credit?

I really dont see how the Gints are any more or less a pretender than us. We appear better, but they are OK. As easy as their schedule has been our's is just as easy. Their D is turning into one of the better ones. They are getting proper due, like them or not. They lost their best player and were thought to fail. They lost their RB in game one. Eli responded. Keep in mind, we barely beat them before they hit their stride, at home.

We are better, and Eli may indeed slide again. Long way to go. I would not want Eli QBing my team. I see him as DB type. But I think he is going to pile up numbers for along time.

They keep saying Eli is a young QB. As far as I am concerned that excuse expired at the start of last year. He started 7 games his rookie year, then has played three more seasons. 2 full seasons plus his rookie year takes that excuse away. He has not had to change systems, or coaches,or even many players outside of tiki. He is never going to be more then what you see now.

They should be 4-3 or even 3-4... the Jets gave their game away.... and the Great Trent Dilfer....well... you.... know.....

Honestly, if you look at Eli's career, he hasn't been nearly as bad as most people have made him out to be. Sure, his completion percentage (and thus his YPA) isn't where you'd want it to be, but completion percentage comes with time; it's increased every year for him, so far.

First full year starting and he threw for 3700 yards, 24 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Really horrible...

Second full year starting he threw for 3200 yards, 24 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

Those are not bad years for an NFL quarterback. I think a lot of us Cowboy fans don't want to believe he's good, so we just ignore the fact that he actually is. I think it's stupid to. We tend to do the same thing with the entire Giants' team. They're good. We have to beat them.

Ummm, we have beaten them so they have to beat us.

BTW, we are better than them, our record proves it.

I think if we seriously want to win the division, we have to sweep them...

Oh, we should probably stop the season now and declare us winners of the NFC East, then, shouldn't we?

Give me a break; a week 8 record means nothing, except you have some cushion going into the stretch, which we don't even really have.

You missed the point, you said we have to beat them and my point is we have beaten them and now onus is on them to prove they have what it takes to beat us. But, I like our chances against them.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem or something? What does we are better than them has anything to do with declaring us the NFCE champ? At this moment, we have beaten Giants, we have a better record and we are sitting atop NFCE, that doesn't mean we are the champ, that just means we are better than them.
