Has Gallup lost his speed?

One of the best "Off-Axis" WR's in the sport.

He does look a bit clumsy and missing his top gear on regular routes, but his ability to seek space and landing area in tight quarters looks to have returned.

the one he lost in the lights was a nice jump, im betting thats on those damn windows again.
Completey.

You can see him initially go up with his hands in a different spot and then had to adjust last minute when he saw the ball finally.

IMO, we need another WR. I know we drafted one that is a bust so we tried but I think it has to be priority for next year. We either have to play Gallup at #2 and find a quick shifty slot guy like we had in Beasley or find a quality #2 like perhaps a healthy Odell and Gallup becomes the third option. personally I’d love to see Hyatt fall to us in the draft.

ACL injuries take a lot out of you that 1st year back. I am sure he will regain some of it for next year. But he was never a speedster to begin with.

We were looking at TY and OBJ because after Ceedee/Gallup, we don't have anyone you can count on. James Washington was a pointless acquisition. He's terrible. We needed one more guy and TY can be that guy. We were very deep last year at WR. This year, not so much.

Is that why we signed TY Hilton and have pursued OBJ? Looking at Gallups stats his first couple years, and he was much more of a deep threat then than now. I am just glad we signed TY.

Team looking for more speed element for sure. More separation skills.
A guy that can take the top over a defense.
We really did not have a guy that could do that.

Gallup was a guy that could deceptively sneak deep on occasion.
Lamb is really not a deep burner vertically either.
He cannot just flat lineup and run past CBs with pure speed
He's more of a move guy.

Why does it seem that Noah Brown seems to automatically fall down with every reception ?

James Washington had a college rep with being able to go deep.
But he's showing every sense that he is JAG.

He ran 4.51 at best. Now he’s rjust coming Bering from a knee injury. Yiu know how you can tell the difference between guys who can get deep abd guys with true deep speed) guys who can get deep consistently get tackled guys with true deep speed will take it to the house unless there’s a safety. Gallup usually gets tackled in his deep balls. T y will take it to the house without a deep safety.

He’s a mid 4.5 guy. He’s a guy who “ can” get deep. It’s usually against a 3rd corner.

I know the numbers don't seem like it but I thought Gallup looked like himself again yesterday. Made some nice sideline grabs if I recall and that TD was awesome. And he would have had a second score but the sun was in his face.

Buddy, Gallup is coming off of major knee surgery. Yah, he has lost a step at this point. Will probably get it back in the off season.

Cowboys have been looking for more of a deep threat. They thought that was Washington. He failed miserably. So they have signed Hilton.

There are/have been several guys that play faster than their 40 time.

What is their "play- speed " when they are on the playing field ?

I agree. Some guys take a full year to come all the way back from an ACL. I would say this is maybe a 70 to 80 percent Gallup at best right now and he will be better in 2023.

Michael Gallup never had great speed. Noah Brown doesn’t have speed. Our receiving core has been an issue and we’re trying to add some speed. We’re trying to draw some coverage away from Gallup and CeeDee.

I've seen many guys say that coming off an ACL tear they aren't fully back until year two. We'll see.
I agree and most of the time this timeframe accounts for the mental side of things which takes that edge off their core talent. We know he can play we just need a little patience, and we all have been spoiled by the recovery of AD in one year.

Giving Gallup that deal coming off the ACL was dumb. Even if he bounces back next year his contract isn’t worth the money.
