Blade Runner was based on a book, not an original idea. I'm sure that book borrowed a lot of ideas from previous works. And so on.

It was loosely based off of a book, but Phillip K Dick made a name for himself. He was just before his time. His books are really good if you haven't read them. I've read a couple. Blade Runner wasn't as good as the book, imo.

I saw where they were talking about a new Blade Runner movie coming out. It got me to thinking. With remakes of classics coming out left and right (and I'm a fan of most of them) or prequels, how many of y'all are fans? Or is there a remake that you would like to see that Hollywood hasn't thought of yet?

I think it's either a sequel or prequel with the original director. He's also making a new Aliens prequel also called "Prometheus".

I very choosey at what movies I see in the theater now days it cost to freakin much anymore. If I take my wife and kids it is usually around $24 dollars that is with no drink popcorn nothing.

So my options is wait for pvp hey I can get 4-5 movies on my 52" tv for that cost. Or if I wait a little more hey I can get it at red box for a $1 that is 24 of the movies.

Hey I may be able to stream

I'm much more choosy about the places I watch movies in as well these days. If I'm paying so much, I refuse to go to a crappy theater with sticky floors, bad smells, uncomfortable seats and nasty bathrooms.

Rottentomatoes is one of the best review sites around. I tend to agree with them on most movies (not all).

Normally any type of Hollywood blockbuster is out of the question for me, especially during the summer. They are almost always bad.

I always read about a movie and lots of different reviews from different places before seeing a movie.

Any movie worthwhile I actually buy on DVD, I have about 50 DVD's that I haven't even taken the plastic wrapping off of. The other half of not spending money on garbage, is actually spending money on the quality movies you find. Speak with your pocket folks =p

Don't give Michael Bay anymore money please. STOP IT!!!!

I've heard it called a lot of things, but "the most original movie in the last decade" was certainly not one of them.

How should I know?

More than likely a movie that barely anyone saw because it didn't have an a-list celeb and explosions in it.

Hell, it might be Brokeback Mountain if we're taking guesses.

They are also making "Footloose" due to hit on October 14th. As they bombed with the recent "Conan the Barbarian" movie. So yeah, Hollywood is running out of ideas.

did he? i didnt feel like he he was serious about brokeback mountain but here you go-It is a film adaptation of the 1997 short story of the same name

I'm not sure that stops it from being an original movie, but as I said, I have no idea. If you're looking for a movie with ideas no other movie has touched on, then chances are said movie is an incomprehensible mess.
