I'm a little more reserved with my expectations with MM than most seem to be. He was basically labeled a Garrett before being let go in GB. Schemes were vanilla, predictable, conservative, etc. Now, he's a creative football man. His GB teams always seemed to beat us, so maybe that's why DAL fans remember him more fondly?
That said it's a fresh start and he's not some old man who couldn't learn some things to improve his offense during his time away from the game as a HC. He seemed to help Rodgers early in his career so want to see what he does with Dak.
Yes.
Coaches, schemes and their comfort blankets.
His rep with his past coming out of GB is uncomfortable for us. And having a rep of repeatedly beating us with Dak at QB is his claim to fame with us.
But we were no great teams then, just excited to have avoided another failure by getting into any playoffs.
When I think of ex HCs who have come here and been successful..only Jimmy Johnson and Parcells. Others like Marinelli not so successful.
If it was just Dak he had to improve, the outlook would appear easier.
But after having lost 2 of our best defensive players in Jones and Quinn..and all new coaches and little practice and no preseason games..
McCarthy has to wonder how much of his 5 year deal he will be seeing.
