Has much really changed going into the Draft?

If we assume that Free is the LT and Colombo is the RT going into next season. And Bigg could possibly back-up Free as insurance, with Brewster the RG and RT in reserve . . . .

We probably are still looking to draft an interior OL early on - not necessarily an OT.

We need to draft a guard and a tackle. Then again, who knows. Maybe the staff is happy with Brewster (though we have no idea what he can do on the field) and some of our younger guards. I still think we need to take one of each, especially if we don't sign any FAs. Then we need a safety, an ILB, and a corner. We will need a DE if we don't keep all of our FAs.

Interesting point Woods... And one I agree with. I wouldn't be surprised to see a center/guard drafted before a tackle.

I agree. I think offensive tackles are a crapshoot earlier in the draft. We have a better shot of drafting a solid interior offensive linemen earlier in the draft who will be with us for many seasons. I could see drafting an OT late in the draft though.

I've thought that all along. I don't see Jerry moving up from 27. At that point in the draft you can get a higher rated interior OL over a picked over OT position.

Based on visits, it appears our top three linemen would be Mike Iupati, Maurkice Pouncey and Vladimir Ducasse (possibly because some others aren't expected to be available when we pick).

Of those three, only Ducasse is a true tackle, and he's projected by a lot of people to start his career inside.

I don't think we had these guys visit then suddenly changed interests because we released Adams. That move has been in consideration since the season ended.

so our ol looks something like

LT Free
OG Kosier
Center Gurode
OG Davis
RT Colombo

Primary back-ups
RT Brewster
Center/OG Procter
OG/Center T Bright
OT McQuisten

I think we via the draft
OG Draft pick
OT Draft pick

I'd guess that McQuisten is gone by September. T Bright may end up on the PS again - depending if we keep 9 or 10 OL.

The biggest issue with the above scenario is the lack of experienced depth - excluding Procter. Brewster, T Bright, and the 2 draft picks for the OL have limited to no NFL experience.

Agreed.

I don't see a move up either.

If anything I could more easily see a move down.

Given his flexibility I like Pouncy at #27.

I think that's too high for Ducasse, who probably won't be there when the Cowboys pick in round 2.

What does that mean?

Maybe a trade down to a spot where a Ducasse choice would make more sense.

I like Pouncey as well; Gurode isn't exactly a spring chicken and I've read that people within the organization believe they can upgrade at the center position. Pouncey, worst case, could serve as the swing guard and backup center, knock Proctor off the roster, or compete with Kosier for the LG spot and eventually take over for Gurode. Phew.

Even the worst case scenario looks pretty good to me. :)

what instrument does proctor play?

Find out which of the guys we are interested in plays the same instrument, BOOM that's the lineman we will draft.

Book it.
