Since we have to very young ends in Canty and Spears, do you think Hatcher could play the SOLB position for us in the future? Im just curious to what you guys think.

I think he will take over the duties Ellis used to perform. I think eventually, Parcells will put him in on passing downs opposite Ware, and have him get after the QB.

Is there something wrong with having more than 2 DEs?

6'6" close to 300 pounds? I doubt it LOL

The big guy has more speed than Ellis. Mcginest from the Browns weights around 280 so the question isnt as crazy as you make it sound

Ellis is a slightly undersized DE ..... Hatcher is a huge D-Lineman.

McGinest is 6-5 270 just like Ellis. He was always considered a tweener. Hatcher is the size of Chris Canty always considered a DE who could probably move inside in a 4-3. Different body types.

Ratliff got a few reps at SOLB early in camp.

Not the craziest though ever.

There have been a few college DT's make the transition to LB.

Kirkland, Millen, Carson.

Kirkland went 6-1/275

ILB, like Kirkland is different than OLB. He could get reps there, sort of switching us to a 4-3 style D, but I doubt he makes a permanent move

Those are good thoughts, but you have to have 4 good de's in the 3-4. Spears and Canty starters, backups are Ratliff & Hatcher. Then you have to remember this is Jason Hatchers first year, he hasnt hit offseason conditioning etc. If you remember Parcells said most improved guy besides Petti in conditioning offseason workouts was Ratliff.

Then, if you heard Mickey report about Canty whom put on solid 18 pounds or so, kept his speed and quickness.

Hatcher is now 6-5 1/2, 284 or so. Conditioning will put him at about 6-5 1/2 solid 300 at least.

They keep saying that Hatcher resembles Leon Lett or Richard Seymour. Both of those players didnt do too much their first year, but 2nd year, boom, also if you remember Billichick Pats coach had Seymour playing some DT too. So, Hatcher will play DE or DT in the 4-3 sometimes.

Hatcher is 295 already, Joe.

It has been said by the team I believe that Hatcher could get as high as 315 and not lose any speed. If you look at Richard Seymour in NE, that is probably who we hope he closely resembles.

Not sure Hatcher is ever going to play OLB but I wonder how many years it will take if ever for us to see any LB at 290-300.

This guy is "crazy" talented so wherever they put him (as long as he's on this team) I'm happy. He's gonna get hiz no matter where he plays. Has anyone noticed the late rounds (4-7) picks that Parcells has found that "can" be staples for the future? The man has a definite job as a GM or Director of Player Personnel if he decides he doesn't want to coach but build.

That'll happen the day we see a 400-pound offensive lineman!!!!
