I think he will take over the duties Ellis used to perform. I think eventually, Parcells will put him in on passing downs opposite Ware, and have him get after the QB.Garret said:Since we have to very young ends in Canty and Spears, do you think Hatcher could play the SOLB position for us in the future? Im just curious to what you guys think.

It's an absolute imperative to have 4 solid DEs.lkelly said:Is there something wrong with having more than 2 DEs?
Garret said:The big guy has more speed than Ellis. Mcginest from the Browns weights around 280 so the question isnt as crazy as you make it sound

Hatcher is 295 already, Joe.cowboyjoe said:Those are good thoughts, but you have to have 4 good de's in the 3-4. Spears and Canty starters, backups are Ratliff & Hatcher. Then you have to remember this is Jason Hatchers first year, he hasnt hit offseason conditioning etc. If you remember Parcells said most improved guy besides Petti in conditioning offseason workouts was Ratliff.
Then, if you heard Mickey report about Canty whom put on solid 18 pounds or so, kept his speed and quickness.
Hatcher is now 6-5 1/2, 284 or so. Conditioning will put him at about 6-5 1/2 solid 300 at least.
They keep saying that Hatcher resembles Leon Lett or Richard Seymour. Both of those players didnt do too much their first year, but 2nd year, boom, also if you remember Billichick Pats coach had Seymour playing some DT too. So, Hatcher will play DE or DT in the 4-3 sometimes.
