Off subject... To OP
That Avi pic is weird. Something disturbing about it. Really random, almost like a leaked pic... And the socks only create more questions....

Go cowboys!!!!
LOL...Its a pic of my girlfriend.. She's actually doing a split all the way to the floor.. The socks help her slide on the hardwood floors..

IIRC, the rule is that the ball must travel to the line of scrimmage, even if the QB is outside the tackles. Obviously, if there is a receiver in the area and the ball is not thrown to the line of scrimmage that is okay. But, I recall on 2 occasions where Eli was out of the pocket, did not get the ball anywhere close to a receiver and did not get the ball to the LOS. They should have been intentional grounding penalties and hopefully the coaching staff will bring that up to the officiating crew as a point of emphasis the next time they face the Giants.

I thought so too, the refs seemed to treat the Giants pretty well yesterday. We shouldn't have had to waste a challenge to get the ball spotted correctly. Even when they did re-spot it sure looked farther then the 46 and half yard line to me.

No, those guys will probably just throw the ball away instead of taking a sack just like Manning did many times yesterday.

Don't you mean commit intentional grounding? I swear he got away with at least 2.

What burned me was on the Dez catch that was almost a TD. They reviewed the play and decided that it was not a TD (which was correct), but they then spotted the ball at the 1-yard line. Replay clearly shows that the ball should have been put at the 1-foot line.

In the end it didn't matter, but given this is the biggest North American professional sports league with gazillions of dollars rolling in and they have freaking instant replay and they STILL can't get it right is infuriating.

There is something about Dallas playing the Giants in Dallas that the refs try to screw the Cowboys every time. And if they don't do it in Dallas, they will try and do it in New York. But, usually it takes place in Dallas.

Last year it took place in NY when the refs were CLEARLY trying to give the Giants the game. Thankfully, we still beat them.

Thats why I'm optimistically cautious going forward. The D is playing above itself for my money and that surely cant last forever.

we're getting turnovers tho and should have had another one that was taken away cause the refs blew the whistle too soon.....who stripped that running back again, was it Milton or Mincey?

Melton, ball was jarred loose at contact and refs blew it.

With a consistent pass rush, I'd say the cowboys were the best team in the league. I believe thats the only thing separating the team from being clear cut SB favorites.

Right there with you. Pretty scary going into the end of the season. No sacks, not even very consistent pressure. Really hope D-Law brings an edge when he gets in there. We at least need some kind of pass rush threat, instead of holding the point, hoping McClain will swarm to the ball every time.

As they have been doing they've gotten pressures but they're not getting sacks. We are going to have to hope D-Law can help with that when he returns.

And as much as it kills some people, I know, but D-Ware had 3 last night on his own. He's got 7 now on the year. To bad he's just an average player who wouldn't be able to help the pass rush on this team.

I think it IS the issue, the biggest one with this defense.

I think it's better than it was to start the season, but not near the level you want and need it to be.

Hopefully, it improves and Lawrence's return provides a big boost. Otherwise, I think some of these top passing attacks will chew it up.

Sooner or later, yes this will be an issue. The top tier guys cannot be given the time that we are giving them at times - It particularly hurts when team are running hurry up like on that Giants last scoring drive and we both can't rotate our D-Line guys and know that the opposition is obviously going to pass.

Since sacks have been tracked as official statistics (1982), the winning Super Bowl team has averaged 43.8 sacks per season. The high is 64 by the 1985 Bears, and the low is 24 by the 2006 Colts. 15 out of the 32 seasons, the sack number has been below the average.

FWIW, the Cowboy teams of the 90's had 44, 34 and 35 sacks respectively.

Currently, the Cowboys are on pace for 13.7 sacks this season. This team has some work to do just to reach the numbers of the Colts in 2006.

What is the record for the least sacks in a season for any team ever -- forget Superbowl teams?

We have bunch of descent bull rushers but no speed rushers. Hopefully DLaw can provide some speed rushes.

In my opinion, the Cardinals, Eagles, Bears, and Colts have passing attacks that look to be able to pose a considerable challenge if this pass rush doesn't improve.

And it is quite a bit uncomfortable seeing those drives in which the opponent is able to score touchdowns so quickly.

I'm hopeful that with continued improvement with the current roster and the addition of Lawrence, we can improve in this area, we'll need to.

It is a concern, but the relentless rush is pressuring teams enough to slow them down a good bit.

I look at it like this: When Dallas finally does get some guys to the QB and the pressure increases... just think how much better they will be. Lawrence getting back or Spencer getting completely back in football shape could be the thing to get them over the sack hump.

They are getting close each week, even without Lawrence. Plus, Carter should be back soon and he has a knack for getting to the QB on blitzes.
