I'm rewatching part 2 now. It would be interesting to visit this part of the country.

Just so you know.

It is not filmed in WV or Kentucky...heck it was not even filmed in the USA. It was filmed in Romania.

Well heck yeah. Who would want to run the chance of running into you in those back hills?

:p:

My brain just clicked & I remember how evil Powers Boothe was in TOMBSTONE.."well bye". One of the many great performances in that movie. There was a thread some time back about underrated actors. To me he is just that. And Bill was in that movie too.

Part 3 is shaping up to be really good so far. It also looks like the overall series is doing really well in the ratings. I put this one up there with Band of Brothers and Lonesome Dove. Maybe more networks will do shows like this instead of reality tv.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/29/hatfields-mccoys-history-ratings_n_1553923.html

History's 3-part miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys" (airing Tues. and Wed. at 9 p.m. ET) attracted 13.9 million viewers on its initial showing, and 17 million overall, with 4.8 million falling into the 18-49 category.
The impressive ratings represent cable's largest ad-supported non-sports audience ever, and are a huge win for History's foray into original historical drama.

I've never seen him attempt this kind of role, a hate-filled vengeance driven man who uses the Bible to justify his violence, and he has made me believe him...

Hard to believe it's the same guy from "Twister"...

He was great in "Weird Science" however.

;)

Wow...that was a great movie! I watched all 6 hours today and just finished.

Great actors all around...

;)

What an absolutely great series! It's coming out on Bluray on July 13th. It will be in my library that day.

And hey network TV!!! That's how you do a production!

Very good....very brutal....

I would like to know how accurate this was. I'm not very well-versed in this feud.

I would love to see the History Channel do another one of these historical dramas.

I still think my feud was better. I need to finish that script.

I would think with the overwhelming success of this mini-series that the History Channel will put out more programming like this. And they will probably attract very notable actors too. This cast was awesome!

One of the reasons the producers could afford to make it as well as they have.

Costner was also very good in Open Range.

I watched it last night really enjoyed it. I tend to like movies based on real events and real people that most of the made up crap out of Hollywood.

They did a great job except for the very end when they were showing a pic of the characters and a little blurb of what happened to them later. It went so fast that you did not get a chance to read them at a comfortable rate...if that makes sense.

I agree. By the time you looked at their picture you could not read what it said about them. I will say I liked the movie enough to want to purchase it and add to my movie collection

If someone had the means to record it and put on DVD themselves they would have ample chances as I imagine they will play the heck out of it over the next week or two.

I was kind of shocked they did not have a behind the movie show for it though. Would have been interesting to watch that although they probably saved that for the DVD.

The Jerry-Jimmy feud???
No, the documentary I wrote.

As far as feuds go it was far more bloody, but less known.

Everybody talks about Paxton, Costner or Boothe.

Personally I thought Berenger did a great job as Uncle Vance...he was the one that really got under my skin and I wanted to see killed and he really did a good job of making that character a jerk.

On a side note...I kept thinking to myself...Where have I seen the girl that played Roseanna before, kept nagging at me until I realized she was the girl from True Blood. She looked better in this movie and they did a good makeup job on her at the end as she really did look like she aged a great deal.

I agree, I would have like to have seen that. I'm sure since the History channel will come back with a true historic views and accounts before long given the success of this movie.
