We went to see the Avengers yesterday (finally, Great, great movie) and before the movie was a preview of a mini series starting on Monday night on History Channel about the Hatfields and McCoys.

It stars Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton and man, the previews were awesome. I have the DVR set to tape it but I am sure I will watch it when it is on live.

Anyway, I know some folks like historical movies so wanted to give a heads up. Don't know how accurate it will be but it sure likes like a great way to spend a few nights.

The History Channel bought ad time on The Avengers??!! Interesting marketing decision. I saw the 1 60 sec preview on TV, meh. I'll give it a shot but I wonder is it 6 hours long(3 nites -2 hours ea.)?? Thats a whole lot of Hatfields.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm one who is inclined to definitely get into this, too. I'll make a point of watching it now that I know about it.

I'm REALLY hoping to catch this...but I'm in the middle of a move, and it's going to be hard to find the time.

I actually dated a descendent of the McCoys when I was in college. Weird, I know.

the history channel is milking this on all fronts. american pickers picked from the old store "devil" hatfield shopped at and even splept. they made mike and frank fight to play up to it.

doing the same on pawn stars.

not a huge costner fan, but this part fits him.

definately gonna enjoy this one.

It does.

I've never liked Costner in anything BUT historical/western type roles. He just works for films like this. Open Range is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Saw The Avengers last night, movie was very entertaining. Def gonna watch The Hatfields and McCoys as well. DVR is set

I'm not a big Costner fan either. But like you, I like him in westerns but the one exception was "Field Of Dreams". It is still one of my all time favorite movies.

Costner is playing my great-great grandfather. No joke.

That's cool. Bet you have the DVR set.
I don't, but will.
My dad, one of my sisters, and a niece were at the pre-party.
I think a lot of my nieces and nephews are getting a kick out of this. It's a very quirky piece of family history.
A couple of them have really gotten into the research now on all sides of the family trees.
Some of the Hatfield family photos (my dad has some real prints as well as copies) are comical. They look like those photos you see at the fair where you get dressed up, have rifles and pistols and nobody smiles. Hilarious.

diggin the hell out of this.

limited commercials. love it.

kevin coster is at his best.

DVR set for the series. Love Kevin Costner! And how cool that that is a poster's ancestor! You will definitely be watching with a totally different mindset than most. Very cool. I know nothing about this story.

is it me or does the intro of this sound like AMC stuff?

who owns these networks?

Man the first 2 hours were great! I can't wait to watch the next two parts.

Very good all around so far. This thing is tracking to be one of the best mini series since The Blue and the Gray and Roots.

Band of Brothers has always been my favorite but this one does look to be a good one.
