Have the Cowboys given up on Henson?

But anyway, as I've said since day 1, Henson will never amount to anything. He hasnt done anything in 2 years and has given me no reason he will improve.

....and how many plays has Henson had to prove himself?

How does one 'give up' on something or someone when you don't even know what you're giving up on?

I'm really surprised over the continued faith in Henson. The only reason he stepped foot on a field last season was because Parcells was just sick 'n tired of the fans begging for it. So he obliged......to show us what Henson really was. Romo has always been ahead of the game in Parcell's eyes. Henson is number 2.....in the bullpen, not even counting whoever the starter is at the moment. He's got a long way to go before ever even becoming a backup, let alone a starter for a NFL team. And certainly never ours as long as Parcells is coaching in my assessment.

Now with Bledsoe cemented in that starting spot with no real sight of him being knocked out in the near future, if Parcells' wants a "project" he'll go out and get his own. And I bet it won't be some baseball reject. Henson is spillover from the way Jerry used to think.

Even at his greatest possible heights he could ever acheive, I have a very hard time believing it will ever be better then what Bledsoe is giving us at the moment, 13 years into his career. So I wonder what the point would ever be in sticking with Henson....

Wasn't Parcells here for the Henson decision?

We got Henson last year. Last time I checked, Parcells was buying the groceries.

So you think BP can be manipulated by the fans? Uh, OK.

Dallas and every other team in the NFL looks at these type of free agents this time of year because of NFLE. They must make enough players available (I believe it's 6 but I'd have to check) and very rarely do teams send someone on the roster all year.

Dallas will sign a bunch of guys after the season, we'll all scratch our heads as to why, they'll be sent to NFLE and then Dallas will use their exemptions for extra camp bodies.

i hope they havent given up on him...i still feel like he is going to be a
good NFL QB. but....if they do i wont spend any time worrying about it.
the coaches see a lot more than i do.

Talent and potential aside. Why is it everyone who supports Romo and bashes Henson says Henson will be too old to have a career by the time he gets on the field? The last time I checked both guys are 25 years old, and I presume they both get one year older every year just like the rest of us. Couldn't it be said with the way Bledsoe is playing Romo will never see the field (winning the starting job: not due to a Bledsoe injury) until he is 27-28 years old with no future career in front of him?

No using common sense here, Romo is 2 months younger therefore he obviously will be a prime age whereas Henson will be old lol

We still have plenty of time with Henson. Heck Trent Green was in his 30s before he got a legit shot. That being said though with the offseason Ireland had, if he sees someone he thinks we have to have in this draft then go for it.

Great post. Totally agree.

I like Henson as much as anyone on this or any forum. But if we can get someone better, do it. No matter how much I like him better is better.

I am no scout or GM, but the only prospect I like better than Henson is Brady Quinn. I am also not a Notre Dame fan. Though I will root for them against Ohio State.

It would be stupid to give up on someone after only 2 years...I hope the Cowboys have more brains than that!

Go Cowboys and Henson!

It's late in the season, Bledsoe is playing great, we are in the race for a playoff spot. And people are wondering about Henson. Why? Why would you expect to hear about Henson at this point of the year.

Bledsoe can win us the SB and we will still get the replace the QB threads and TO threads in the off season. I can't wait.

GO COWBOYS
GO BUCKEYES

Simple really, this topic is the progeny of the old Q vs, Hutch debates.

No. He has one more training camp to show something.

Henson is done in Dallas. Romo has lucked out as bein a Parcells guy even though he dont have anywhere near the talent Henson does.

I really like BP and what he has done for this team but he has just done a horrible job in how he had done things with Henson.

If he even does get one more training camp I do not see him getting a fair chance at all.

What exactly has Bill Parcells done here? He even caved to Jerry and put the guy in during the Bears game.

Henson got outplayed by Romo this Offseason, which was painfully obvious. Even Jerry, when talking to the Babe during a Pre-Preseason chat said he had hoped for more.

I dont care much for Romo and certainly could care less for Drew Henson. Things didnt work out with the Yankees in Baseball and now he is here.

We need to draft a Young buck via the draft and let him learn under drew. Cut ties to Henson and maybe even Romo (backup).

The only exciting thing we have heard is is he chaning his throwing motion or not.

Im all for letting a kid grow, but I never liked the fact that I always felt this gig was just something to fall back on. Just like Parcells said, If he was hitting .300 with the Yankees, Henson is still wearing Yankee Penstripes.

The prob with Parcells on this was last year when we were officially outta the playoffs Parcells went with his ancient grampa Testeverde still. That time coulda been used to get Henson more ready and see more of what we had in him.

1/2 game doesnt tell you crap. What bothers me about after we were officially outta the playoffs last year it was obvious that Parcells cared more about one of HIS guys padding his stats then using those games to see more of Henson and get him some game time.

Thanks for jogging my memory, I had forget about that.

Yeah, never ever really understood why Parcells wouldnt play the youngins once the playoffs were out of reach. He was really putting Testeverde at risk for injury.

So yes, I will definately give you that. I think Parcells' ego had something to do with that.

Yes he was. But come on, an ex-baseball player as a quarterback project, who does that sound like? Doesn't sound like Parcells to me. Sounds like Jerry all the way in my humble oppinion.
