This is a move I would make

On Madden. In real life...they can keep their overweight slob of a dt or get some low pick for their 100 mil. Whenever Dallas does something I don't agree with, I just think "It could be worse...I could be a Commanders fan."

I wish Shanny would stop getting in Lil Danny's business.

I firmly believe that Goodell should levy a hefty fine upon Shanny for tampering.

We were shocked last week when he heard that defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth could be part of a deal that would have allowed the Commanders to move from No. 4 to No. 1 in the draft, setting up the selection of quarterback Sam Bradford.

Defensively, the Rams were 30th in the league in sacks, 27th against the run. Offensively, they were 28th in the league in passing yardage, their leading receiver put up 589 yards (Austin, Witten, Crayton and Williams each topped that mark), their QBs combined for 11 passing TDs and the only person to throw more TDs than INTs was their kicker.

If I'm the Rams I take that deal for Haynesworth, draft Clausen and then move back up a bit for Tate. The defense should be improved with the addition of Haynesworth and the established rapport of Clausen and Tate might lead to a faster return on investment.

I'm not saying they definitely cant trade him, but its just further proof of how ridiculous the discussions were about how "valuable" and "dominant" Haynesworth is. There were numerous people in this forum arguing that Haynesworth was worth more than DeMarcus Ware.

Haynesworth had 1 or 2 good seasons, and a bunch of mediocre ones. He was labeled a massive bust for a couple of seasons when he came in the league, and he was lousy last year. I doubt teams are going to offer much for a guy who is so inconsistent AND has other issues, regardless of what his contract situation is now.

The fact that the Commanders just paid him 20+ mils and want to trade him should say all you need to know here.

Why would another team be willing to give the skins some of the $21 million back? They didn't negotiate that ridiculous contract. If the skins want to trade him, they will have to eat all that money. They basically paid $21 million for whatever draft picks they get for him. I don't expect more than a 2nd or 3rd based on his attitude and being out of shape last year.
:lmao2:

This is why the NFL has the Oakland Raiders.:laugh2:

:laugh2: I love it.... Shanahan is the man though, you gotta admit it.

Mike Shanahan is the man, when it comes to running an offense. But, lets not forget, that it was Mike Shanahan that single handedly built the great Bronco's defense's of a few years ago.

Without a doubt the is the man as an offensive mind, but as a defensive mind and building a D, the jury is still out, all though the evidence does not look promising.

At three years and $16 million, Haynesworth contract is now very tradeable
Posted by Mike Florio on April 6, 2010 11:03 PM ET
With the Commanders paying defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth a $21 million bonus last week, we're told that the practical length and value of his contract is three years, $16 million, with $9 million guaranteed.

As a league source opined, "Every team in the NFL would have interest in that."

The question is whether and to what extent the Commanders would want reimbursement of the money paid last week. And that question depends on whether the Commanders prefer cash or draft picks -- and whether the teams that want him are willing to give up cash or draft picks.

In our view, coach Mike Shanahan likely would prefer to stockpile picks.

We've confirmed that the Commanders definitely attempted to trade Haynesworth before the $21 million payment came due. Others have reported that the efforts continue, with the Titans and Rams the teams most frequently mentioned. Now that the financial package has been reduced to a ridiculously affordable $16 million over three years, someone will bite if the price is right.

Source: No Haynesworth trade in works

4/7/2010 7:50:35 AM | More

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports despite multiple reports that the Washington Commanders are determined to trade defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, a high-ranking Commanders source insisted the team is not.

The source said Haynesworth is, and will continue to be, the Commanders' starting nose tackle.

Haynesworth's name has not come up in any trade discussions since March 31, when Washington and Philadelphia discussed a potential deal for quarterback Donovan McNabb, according to the source.

Monday, sources told ESPN the Commanders offered in one of their first attempts to land McNabb, but that the Eagles were not interested. The two teams completed the trade sending McNabb to Washington on Sunday.

He'll be gone in a week or so :)

What a deal for the Titans; let him go for a year while Washington pays him a mint, then get him back at a good price.
I do wonder how much passion for the game he still has though.

I saw this in the other thread.

Seems to make sense not to trade him unless the kickback made a ton of sense. The guy is one of the best out there.

You guys so far have got the watered down Albert Haynesworth.

If the guy wants to be he is head and shoulders the best DT in the league. But last year he might've been top 5 if that. He sure as heck wasn't better than Ratliff.

If I were Washington I would be concerned that this guy got his pay check and is now going to give you 3/4 effort.

Commanders, Haynesworth are suddenly playing chicken
Posted by Mike Florio on April 7, 2010 9:27 AM ET
After two days of rampant reports that the Commanders are shopping defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, the Commanders have spoken.

Sort of.

ESPN's Adam Schefter, who once authored a book with Commanders coach Mike Shanahan and who widely is believed to still have a direct pipeline to Shanahan, has broken his curious silence regarding the Haynesworth situation. Citing an unnamed "high-ranking Washington source," Schefter reports that the Commanders are not "determined" to trade Haynesworth.

But Schefter's report contains two strong clues that, in our view, represent an effort by the Commanders to get under Haynesworth's skin, possibly in the hopes of getting Haynesworth to pay back a large chunk of the $21 million he received last week in order to facilitate a trade. Specifically, Schefter's source says that "Haynesworth's name has not come up in any trade discussions since March 31," which means that on and/or before March 31, Haynesworth's name did come up in trade discussions. Which means that the Commanders are letting the world know that, indeed, they have shopped the man who was the crown jewel of the 2009 free-agency class.

More significantly, Schefter's source also said that Haynesworth "is, and will continue to be, the Commanders' starting nose tackle." Those last two words are powerful; Haynesworth has made it clear that he has no desire to play "nose tackle" in the new 3-4 defense that the Commanders are installing. Characterizing Haynesworth as a "nose tackle" surely is aimed at reminding Haynesworth that, if he stays, he'll be expected to do something he doesn't want to do.

Schefter's version comes at a time when three other NFL writers -- Jason Reid of the Washington Post, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network, and John Clayton of ESPN -- have reported unequivocally that Haynesworth remains available. Our guess is that Shanahan is using his relationship with Schefter as a way to apply the brakes to what quickly was becoming inevitable, and in turn to squeeze Haynesworth into coughing up some of that large pile of cash he received last week, if he wants to avoid playing "nose tackle" in the Commanders' 3-4 defense.

Finally, we're compelled to point out once again a clear conflict between two ESPN reporters. It's quickly becoming a trend, and the editors need to do a better job of harmonizing these reports -- or of acknowledging that one of the two reporters necessarily is wrong.

In this case, someone definitely is. Said Clayton on April 5: "What is clear is that the Commanders are willing to part with Haynesworth, according to multiple sources."

Bottom line? We think that Reid, La Canfora, and Clayton are right -- and that Schefter's report in a roundabout way confirms that fact.

In any case, I don't see Haynesworth paying back any of the $21mm bonus to the Commanders. That's banked.

Furthermore, the Commanders can "force" Haynesworth to play NT, but Haynesworth doesn't have to put out top effort, either (and probably won't). In fact, he can collect his fat pay check and claim injury or simply claim that he's exhausted (after the 2nd quarter).

Im soooo sick of haynesworth talk. Is the guy pretty good, yes, but he got way too much money...and yes i said pretty good. He played his butt off in a contract year and then came back down to earth. Dude is a little better than mediocre most of the time, and he looked less than that when Gurode handed him his butt all day....so bad he had to stomp him him the face to get him back cause he couldnt do anything when they were both standing up. SCREW HAYNESWORTH and his TERRIBLE work ethic.
