If you play football long enough, you are going to eventually have to battle some injuries.
Newman played from 2003-2006 and didn't miss a game.
Newman missed two games in 2007 and was put in the Pro Bowl for the first time, and it was way past over due. Newman should have multiple Pro Bowls on his resume. DeAngelo "Toast" Hall has two of them for sure.
Last year, Newman had a guy fall on him in a non-contact drill during training camp. The guy fell on him awkwardly and caused Newman the injury. Newman tried to play through it and had to have the operation due to the sports hernia that developed from trying to play injured.
Newman got hurt at Carolina last year but played through it when he obviously wasn't 100%.
Now, it appears that Newman got kneed in the quad.
If it was a real game week, Newman would be playing.
It isn't like Newman is running around and pulling muscles.
One guy fell on him, and he had the foot condition (probably from that terrible turf in San Antonio), a condition that Roy Williams and Jason Taylor had in their careers.
After Terence Newman goes out and shuts down Domenick Hixon and Steve Smith (for the third time), we'll see how this over reaction sounds then.
