Heard Cowboys have just 12 1st rd grades!

If McClay said 15-18 players have a 1st round grade, then you are right.
I think he's assuming several players they don't have graded as 1st rounders are taken ahead of 12..
Odds that some will be taken...almost certainly...but how many is the question.

After the top 4-5 players, it seems teams are all over map this year, so it should be interesting

We have heard throughout the process that teams could have under 15 1st rd grades this year. The top of the class just doesn't have many blue chip prospects, question is who has been assigned a 1st rd grade by the Cowboys and are they willing to take depth over value?

I would prefer a first round talent over getting another pick.

The trick will be how many of their “first round grades” are still available at 12. Could they slide back a couple spots and still get one of their first rounders?

It’s risky.

Our 12 won’t be the exact same 12 as other teams and then factoring in need it could be there are less than 12 really in play with our first round pick. Just comes down to what is left at #12 when we are on the clock.

Usually I would agree, but they have so many needs this year and they already traded away their 4th rd pick. Also, really don’t feel the value is that much different from 12 to 25

It sounds like they feel there is a real gap between their top 12 and whatever is below it.

But from their 13th best to 30th or so? maybe not

Not sure how big that second large tier is.

I don't even have 12. I think this class has a lot of depth but they are all bunched together rather than a larger group of top players. I think the value in this draft will be in day 2 and 3.

i feel like we hear this every year we only had x 1st round grades and usually we are picking with in 5 spots of that number. i believe that helps them justify there pick or trade or what they are doing. its all nonsense just ignore it and lets see who we get. there are 32 spots in 1st round like it or not a player of your liking or disliking is going to get picked. lets just enjoy the ride.
