Heath sack of Rodgers on the final drive

Montgomery got a piece of Heath just as he was getting to Rodgers. That may have been the difference re: a fumble. Still, you can't give up the long pass on 3rd and 20.

Just one of many mistakes, and too many to win a playoff game.

I can't blame Heath there. 1 he's a safety, not like he blitzes much, let alone plays that much on defense. 2. He went "conservative" going for the spot that Rodgers would have zero chance of getting out of that sack. Square right in the back.

Hell of an effort by AR to hold on.

As the play happened my mind automatically went to the thought that Heath was going to nail Rodgers and that Rodgers was going to fumble it and the Cowboys were going to recover it.

I thought all that in a split second. For a split second I thought the game was going to be essentially over.

9 times out of 10 that's a fumble.

Anybody else have that same epiphany on that play?
Yes.

I missed the play (sort of)
WHY?

Because I was still figuring out why Rod opened the game playing soft when we have shown we can blitz anybody and have success!!!

Silly me, I was worrying for the past two weeks Linehan was going to come out conservative like against the giants.

thought we had figured out how to beat people with the speed on defense, but no............

One thing I don't understand is why when you're coming blindside and the QB doesn't see do you NOT ATTACK the FOOTBALL. Who cares about the QB or the sack. The ball is everything. The ball is always there ready to be taken but more often than not players go for the QBs body and that just allows the QB to feel you and secure the ball before it comes out. If Heath attacks the football, balls out, and Dallas likely secures it in FG position. But because he attacked Rodgers body Rodgers was able to secure the ball with only a loss of 10 yards on the play.
good point too bad cowboy coaches dont teach that ! lol

one thing championship teams are is lucky

and we were not lucky at all last night. i can't think of a single unexpected bounce that went our way

I thought about winning the coin toss as soon as I realized he held onto it.
marinelli decided coverage was better than pressure, I mean how often can rodgers find a guy to throw to if you give him a minute or 2 ?? lol

Heath is a DB. They aren't nearly as instinctual as normal sack guys (DEs, OLBs). The real unfortunate part is none of those guys were able to get pressure. Our pressure was completely manufactured by Marinelli. DBs just don't knock the ball loose as well as others.
