Sean Payton coached for 15 years in the league while having one of the best QB's in the history of the game leading his offense. He was able to get a single SB win from that.

What are people expecting Sean Payton to be able to do here?

The internet, man. SMH.

I guess leave out the Brady and Belichek problem as far as Super Bowls go during that time frame. Rogers was an issue too...he only got one SB.

I still don't understand why many of you seem to think Payton is still going to require multiple high draft picks to get.

New Orleans has moved on. Their recourse/leverage in negotiations would be to bring Payton back, which just isn't going to happen.

They aren't paying him. Do you really think they are going to prevent him from returning to the league to spite him? That's just not done. It's a very bad look.

The draft pick situation isn't a factor at all.

Tank the season. There is no salvaging this one.

Get ready for a new regime when Sean Payton arrives next year. :)

:facepalm::angry::thumbdown::popcorn:
NONE Not at all no chance LMAO..Take that Debbie downer nonsense as if MM had control of this. a HC isn't fixing losing your qb 2 of his 3 seasons and overcoming MOORE if im MM wants to save his job demote or fire MOORE tomorrow...take over play calling.

SP 3 straight 7-9 seasons with drew Brees upright Pullease on how coveted he is as savior here.

Tank the season to give NO a higher draft pick? I'm sure they'll want our 1st round selection at the very least in return.

And.....it's not even a MM/Payton comparison.

Moore would be gone also. We would get a different offense. That's the big part.

People point out SB wins in comparing him to MM. How about we consider things in more simple terms, like Payton had INT machine Winston playing much better. Just maybe he can turn Prescott into playing better ball.

He also played a large role on developing Romo. Who do you want as part of finding the next QB, Payton or MM?

wouldn't matter IF JJ and SJ wont allow KM to be let go or demoted. So SP can't Change things if hes not allowed.

Sean Payton also had more than his share of seasons of 8-8 or worse. That has nothing to do with Brady, Belichek and Rogers.

He may be a good coach. I just think he is being a little overhyped and I don't see his as someone who is going to turn this organization around.

Sean Payton can’t play OL, can’t play DT, can’t play WR etc. the problem runs way deeper than the coaching staff. We have a serious talent issue in a number of areas and an owner that has no idea the past 25+ years how to address it.

They hired another coach and still own Paytons coaching rights...they dont have to shut down to hold him to the contract, they would be complete idiots to not require capitol for his rights.

soon as payton gets here everyone will want a new young college coach

then they'll want Hoofhead McGee as coach and when Hoofhead dont work out they'll want Tony La Russa

Dont forget the new QB's every year they will need......if only we had a good QB over the last 26 years....

I think people tend to forget that Jerry and Payton are actually friends, and Jerry trusts him. It's not like...'Payton wouldn't put up with that...' He knows who he os dealing with.

Jerry can't rule things forever and it would stand to reason he would want someone around that he trusts.

We are also talking big time contract numbers, and the potential to run the team for a good while.

I think those two can definitely reach a middle and let Jerry get his media time and credit. I just hope they cut him off before he goes full Al Davis.

This may not happen until after NEXT season, but it's gonna happen....and NO isn't gonna be able to demand high draft picks when the guys has been gone forever. What's the alternative? Bring him back? Fire your current guy to bring back Payton when he doesn't want to be there. They have no leverage and thats just not how things are done.

So...youre New Orleans. It's the end of the 2023 season. Let's say you've been around 500 under Allen, made a WC once, but you're generally happy with the staff.

Payton wishes to return to coaching. They had him under contract thru 2024. Do you think they would fire Allen and demand Payton return for one year to coach for them when he doesn't want to be there?

still where i sit if you have top use draft picks im out on SP. hes not the savior IMO..now talk to me in February i may change my stance, i mean you trying to tell me if MM says i want to takeover play calls and demote or fire Moore, Jerry won't listen unless its SJ. Come on they have the same resumes!

Im pretty sure Quinn and MM have enough experience and clout to go in and say Moore just isnt the guy or Rush isnt enough and get te Jonses to go make moves..

They dont have to do anything, they can keep thier current coach AND demand capitol for the coaching rights they own thru 2024. They dont have to give him a job to hold him to that contract.

Sure, but they arent paying him on that 'contract.'

They also want to deny him the right to work? Think about how that may play out with an arbitrator.

Also, why assume they would play hardball with him? I don't think it ended unamicably. They are gonna let him go when the time comes.

Players and FO types are all intertwined, and a bad look is bad. This is not as if he wanted to quit NO and go elsewhere immediately. Different animal.

In fact when he signed that deal it was probably understood that he may not finish it.

Regardless, very moot point for now.
