Help Identify a Former Cowboy

Seems strange he would call the kid over but not even give his name. Could have autographed a napkin.
It's possible that he preferred to be asked for an autograph rather than offer as it would be rather presumptuous of someone who initiated the contact to then offer an autograph (ex: Hi, I was famous long ago .. want my autograph?) :D

It may also be that he hasn't given or been asked for an autograph in decades and simply does not think about it.

Got to be Hollywood Henderson. He was always a modest, low key kind of guy.

I read his book many moons ago. Smart guy, kind of nuts and completely out of control during his playing days. He would have his own reality show right now if he had played during the days of social media.

He was a talented and charismatic guy. Too bad he had demons. Glad he's doing well now - public speaking and lottery winning.

Could be a lot of reasons. I found it strange.

His ex-wife worked for me and saw a signed poster I kept in my office (Aikman/Smith/Irvin). She told Thomas and he called me one day. I think she was looking for brownie points. We talked for over an hour. He was a preacher or something. Around '99. Surreal, but not as stunning as having Dorsett walk into my office, introduce himself, and just sit down and start talking. Caught some heat for not having his pic up, but he did sign a Cowboys helmet for me.

Not a brush with greatness but I lived with a girlfriend like 20 years ago and her best friend was a girl named Sunny. She had been the road girlfriend of Too Tall Jones when they had training camp in Thousand Oaks. She showed me a couple of pictures, she was a 5 foot nothing blond that came up to his waist. Which....if you think about it.......

My first guess was Don Perkins, ROH FB, but he has to be older than 61.

That was my first guess too. Perkins actually worked for the City of Albuquerque for many years. I use to see him weekly. I haven't seen him in years, but l recently heard he's in a wheel chair now...

I would've asked him straight up who he was.

I should have. I was with my son who was climbing on the stools so half my attention was on him and making sure he didn't spill his hot chocolate. I introduced myself but he didn't give his name and I just didn't get the chance to ask him before it was definitely time to move venues with my son. I'm going to do the internet stalker thing on Steve Wilson today because that seems like a promising lead.

I was out with my son who is three. We live in Vermont and he was wearing his Cowboys hat. He’s a Cowboys fan because I am.

We were in a coffee shop waiting for our order when a man called him over and asked him if he was a Cowboys fan. I told him we were and he said he played for Dallas in 1979. I introduced myself but he did not tell me his name or much about his playing days. I talked to him as much as I could while watching a three-year-old. Below is all I know about him.

He currently lives in New Mexico
His daughter goes to college in Vermont
He is 61 years old

Nothing else he said would have helped in identifying him. I mostly just talked to him about random things while making sure my son didn’t wreck the place. I asked him a little about the current team but he didn’t say much.

I didn’t want to be an idiot fan so I didn’t press on him. Anyway, any ideas who he was?

79 roster, with ages - after starters

39 years ago he was 22 plus or minus 1.
9 guys.

Height, weight, race. You can probably narrow it down pretty quick.
Wikipedia often has more information on life after playing days.

>>> He was a medium black guy. He was sitting so I didn’t get his height.

Medium probably rules out the 6-4+ guys. Only 5 left.
