This guy is exactly what this team needs. Henry is basically a better version of what Murray was last year. Give it to him 25-35 times and just let him wear down the defense. Look at what he's doing to Auburn right now, closing out the game. Been doing it all season. Would be great for out defense.

Henry would be fantastic here, especially behind our O line

Watching a little tape on Collins but does anyone else see the slight stutter step he almost always does before hitting the hole? Maybe it's just me but I see hesitation on every run. Maybe it's the blocking scheme tho

His stop on a dime change of direction footwork, that's what you are seeing. When you view these runs from behind the offense and see what he sees, it's clear he makes guys miss in the hole at point blank range and often turns a loss into a gain. Alex Collins has the best combination of vision and footwork in college football. What he lacks is elite speed, but many backs do. I expect he guy will be very solid as a pro with his talents.

Collins has incredible vision. But his YPC is a concern. Anyone know why it's so low? Anything under 6 in college is kind of worrisome. Top backs now have anywhere from 6-8 YPC.

Carries: 759
Yards: 3685
YPC: 4.9
TD: 50

Do you know what RB these college rushing stats belong to?

One of the worst running backs in the NFL? Demarco was so the best receiver coming out of the backfield that year and for a few years after. Like I said, the best running backs in college now a days average between 6 and 8 YPC, times have changed.

You showing me Demarco Murray stats or Adrian Peterson from 2004 doesn't make sense and doesn't change anything. Look at Eliots, Dalvin Cook, Derrick Henry, Royce Freeman, Perine, Elijah Hood, Jordan Howard's averages. All between 6 and 8.

What that shows me is YPC is NOT the best barometer of future success. One of the worst backs in the NFL? Come on dude. Sure, he ain't worth $8M/year, but one of the worst backs is QUITE a stretch.

Henry really scares me. I like his vision and patience, but I think his lack of burst (though he has surprising top end speed) and lateral movement ability coupled with his immense size is going to lead to a lot of punishment. I think he could have 3, maybe four great season before he really breaks down. He also has a lot of mileage already. I liken him a lot to Eddie George, but George had quite a bit more shiftiness.

Agreed.

I know it's only one game. but Henry carried the ball something like 45 times in the Auburn game. That gives me some pause. I would be worried that he already has some wear coming into the league and that he will wear down quickly. But I do think he will be a very good player as long as his body holds up.

This analysis was only from watching one video on draft breakdown so it's TV angle. He's guy I'm interested in watching more of once that time of year begins

Collins looks like the ultimate boom or bust back to me. He also shows a propensity to bounce outside a little too quickly. I think he could be a great RBBC guy in a spread scheme, but I don't think he's a 25 carry a game bell cow.

Maybe in a spread, but not in a pro-style offense.

He's proven very durable and as much a bell cow type as there is in college, save Henry, who is a physical specimen in his own category this year......and I would be ok with Henry as I think he will be like Lacy. That said, I believe Collins may be more an Emmitt type with his vision, footwork and quickness and that guy worked out pretty good.
