Do you think Langford will drop to the 3rd round?
If you don't think he will be there at the 60th pick, then you either trade down a little or take him one round higher.

That is what the Cowboys did with Travis Frederick. They got criticized for taking him a little too high but who got the last laugh?

I would rather see Dallas draft a player they want a little high than to miss out on him.

Frederick was considered by most to be an early 2nd round talent. We reached by maybe 10 picks, Which isnt bad. He would have been long gone by our 2nd round pick. Langford at 60 is way too high. He is a late 3rd, early 4th round guy

Most everyone agrees the Cowboys got lucky drafting Murray in the third rd. On all redraft scenarios he goes early first. So did the boys enjoy getting a first rd talent for RB, I think you can check that box, do you think they believe it was all Oline well this draft will tell the truth early pick of RB says it all. IMO ranking the backs we do not need a home run runner more the grinder and I rated them Gurley, Ajayi, and J Buck Allen.

Factor in that they wanted Ryan Williams in the 2nd that year

I'm hoping to get away from the Murray mold. I want that running back that can take it to the house, yet still has prototypical size.

That's why I like Yeldon because he reminds me of Murray except he has the vision to see a hole and won't just go looking for someone to crash into.

He doesn't have that 5th gear but hes fast enough to break for a TD from 50 on in if he gets past the defense.

I've always thought Yeldon was one of the better RB's coming out. He might fetch a 2nd round grade because I think his stock will be rising the closer we get to the draft.

Have you watched Tevin Coleman highlights? I don't think he has a problem scoring off big runs

Never seen a redraft with Murray going early first.
I think he's good, but not that kind of back.
Great year last year though

Thats where I see him at. I have him as my 9th RB in the class and think he goes somewhere in the 4-5th rd range. I would not be happy if he was the pick in the 1st or 2nd

Anyone who really believes there's a chance the Cowboys go RB with their first draft pick isn't paying attention. It will not happen. The Cowboys don't believe it's necessary; they don't think they need a superstar at RB. They drafted Murray in round 3; they could have resigned him if they thought it was critical. save yourself the agony.

It won't surprise me one bit for both Gordon and Gurley to still be on the board at 27, but that will be even more reason to draft defense. If the value isn't there or they see other options, I femininely see the Cowboys trying to trade down to the second round. I then see them packaging an extra pick to move up in round 2 with their own pick. They will then take two defensive players in the top half of round 2 and get their RB in round 3 again.

The chance that we use #27 on a RB has to be around 1%....

IMO, they'll go BPA at 27 if they don't trade the pick. That could be RB or something else. I agree with you that they don't want to pay big money to a RB (thus Murray leaving) but they do want a superstar at RB... they just don't want to pay him like one. And you don't pay the 27th pick in the draft like a superstar anymore. Gurley or Gordon would be affordable for the length of their first contract.

Having said that, you're probably correct they don't go RB at 27... but I don't think they'll avoid drafting one early just because they don't want to pay $42M for a RB. The team is drafting very well and it is in large part because they are no longer reaching for need.

That drove me absolutely insane. There would be cutback lanes galore and Murray would just run straight to the defender like a magnet on a refrigerator. I have complained about that since his rookie season.

I never did understand it. He gained so many yards this year that it was easy to overlook but I still saw it all the time this past year. Fans didn't want to hear about it but his vision is not good.

You make a good point. I just do not want Dallas passing up a stud running back if he is there. I am not sure how reliable McFadden is and I do not trust Randle. The fact that Murray carried the load so much last season speaks volumes to me. It tells me the coaching staff does not trust Randle and Dunbar.

Here mine:

(If Gurley and/or Gordon are available at 27)
First round: Take Gurley/Gordon without hesitating, whoever is available or higher on their draft board.
Second round: Best defensive player available, preferably a pass rusher.
3-7 rounds: take LBs/CBs/DL and maybe a OT.

(if Gurley and Gordon aren't available at 27)
First round: Best defensive player available.
Second round: Take Coleman/Ajayi/Abdullah, whoever is available or higher on their draft board.
3-7 rounds: take LBs/CBs/DL and maybe a OT.

I think option #2 is best
