WSSP radio in Milwaukee reports that the Vikings have made initial inquiries about Brett Favre, "pending his release from the Packers."

The station's website claims it will have more about the story in the coming future. Minnesota could and should have interest in Favre, but we strongly doubt that Favre will be released. If the Vikings want him as a potential one- or two-year fix, they'll probably have to come up with a trade package. Favre's agent, Bus Cook, brokered the Steve McNair deal (Baltimore sent Tennessee a conditional fourth-rounder for McNair in '06) two offseasons ago, so he has experience dealing with this sort of thing. All Favre needs to do is show up at Lambeau ready to work tomorrow.

That will speed up the whole inevitable process of his getting released.

This coverage will rival what Owens got with the Eagles.

Once upon a time ago, this same Vikings franchise gave US the entire farm for some good, albeit not great but ageing RB-whom they thought would be their ticket to a Lombardi.

Who says they won't be stupid twice?:laugh1:

Posturing in the hopes Favre will walk away.

A useless gesture.

He'll now be forced to call their bluff and take it to the media.

You can guaranty that the Packers won't trade inside the division unless it is to the Bears and for a really good package.

The Packers know the Vikings are a QB away from a SB and the Packers won't give that to them, thats for sure.

How many other teams A) need a QB? B) Have Cap Money To Trade For Farve? C) GB Willing To Trade Farve There?

Anybody who thinks that the Packers could possibly sit this guy is kidding themselves.

They can be as upset about it as they want - and they have a right to be - but there's no way they can follow through on their threat.

When all is said and done, Favre will be cut.

And I think he'll ultimately sign with Minnesota.

Depends...remember the Hershel Walker trade we made them years ago-they were supposedly a RB away from holding up that Lombardi. When all was said and done, we ended up ripping off 1/2 of their D.

Yeah-I know you're talking about interdivision. However-GB has some holes to fill themselves. If Minny is this desperate, why not do the same like we did?

I just dont think they will because the Bears are A TON of players away from a SB than just a QB. There is a helluva better chance they will deal to the bears than the vikes is what im saying.

ed werder made a pretty interesting point today. He said there is a shareholders meeting coming up and since the city is owned in a majority by the public either A. they could put so much pressure on Ted Thompson that he has to allow bret back or B. Ted Thompson holds his ground and is forced to resign. If it were to end up as B. mcarthy would then be in a tricky situation.

SOmething to think about. IF the packers were to trade favre to minnesota they would be colossal idiots.

Well, Werder, also forgot that they paid McCarthy a new Contract last year so I doubt anything happns to him. McCarthy is going nowhere.

There is no way Farve will be traded to the Vikes, Mark it done. The Pack can trade him where they want.

Yeah, everyone's going to line up to give the Packers something for a player they know they:

a) Don't want

b) Can't keep

c) Costs $12 million
