"The Panthers have one guy on the roster that can catch the football, and if it wasn't for a horrendously bad call from the officials he would have had 200 yards on us tonight" (that's a quote from Norm Hitzges tonight on the post-game show.) This secondary doesn't look like a 13-2 secondary to me, albeit it is. But I'm with those that see the train wreck coming when we have to face a legitimate contender.

I'm happy for the "win", but this team did not look that interested in this game, to me. And I think the refs were terrible. I cannot impgine what this board would be like right now if those calls (and non-calls) would have been done to us and not the Panthers...

Here are some other facts:

1) The Cowboys gained 405 yards of offense despite the loss of their best receiver.

2) The Cowboys rushed for almost 150 yards and dominated TOP.

3) The Cowboys held the Panthers to 216 yards total offense.

4) The Cowboys sacked Moore 5 times.

5) Steve Smith is one of the top receivers in the league.

6) The Cowboys beat a legitimate contender just three weeks ago.

7) Most importantly, the Cowboys are 13-2.

The Cowboys absolutely dominated the Panthers tonight, and the numbers reflect it.

I can't wait to see the media now. Wonder who they try to pin that ugly secondary performance on now that Roy was on the sideline.

One thing is for sure. KD didn't do a thing to change my opinion about him being a special teamer only.

Um it was the right call. The thug went to the ground himself and did not keep hold of the ball.

I know you are angry the team didn't tank it after the New England game as per your request but do you have to try and ruin it for all of us.

Anyway, not sure when a win becomes a "win". Maybe you can explain to the rest of us.

Hitzges is completely wrong. I heard his post game show and he was whining about the dropped ball.

I have a DVR and have slowed the play down and the call was correct.

Smith had the ball but it was com,ing out when he hit the ground. They showed one shot of this that upheld the call, but chose not to show it a second time.

As to Hitzges claiming it was P.I. The player tipped the ball away and was playing the ball.

Toyugh rockos Norm, but Dallas beat them with players getting hurt.

How much did Courtney Brown play?

Little I believe. If hes #27 then he was out there on a few special teams plays. He really could have killed the ball inside the 5 on one of the punts tonight but couldn't locate it.

And it's been that way for years and Smith seems to got his touches every game against every team! What am I missing here.

Oh by the way, did Newman get hurt in this game and do you thing that might have effected him?

I couldn't tell from the replay whether the ball was moving before Smith hit the ground. If it were moving before he hit the ground, then yes it is an incomplete pass. Of course that was not the call on the field. They said he went to the ground on his own, which he didn't. It was all screwy. I was glad it went in Dallas' favor, but it seemed like a catch to me.

Not that that would have meant that Carolina would have won or Dallas should be freaking out because one of the best receivers in the NFL had a big game. He was due for a big game against Dallas. They have shut him down the last few times they have met.

Norm is a dork. The worst media guy out there and his voice is horrible. I don't listen to him.

Sorry, but I can't listen to Norm Hitzges. I can't remember a time that he praised this team. The team is 13-2! 13-2! Give me a break. This team could go 16-0, with the SB, and Norm would still have a problem with something.

There's been a few games this year where the Patriots secondary didn't look like one of a 14-0 team. 15-0 if you've already counted the Dolphins out. I try not to split hairs over wins.

So you don't think we've faced a legitimate contender? I guess I missed the train wreck.

Interesting facts:

According to NFL.com's drive charts:

WITH Owens: Dallas had 5 drives, gained 239 net yds, scored 2 TDs and a FG
(Drives of: 29-punt, 70-TD, 21-punt, 75-TD, 44-FG)

WITHOUT Owens: Dallas had 6 drives, gained 140 net yds, scored 1 FG
(Drives of: 31-halftime, 9-punt, 39-INT, 37-FG, 3-punt, 21-EOG)

That's a pretty big drop in production.

Now here's a stat to be proud of

Last 3 games: 14 penalties 107yds. They have done a great job of getting themselves under control. Much better than those games earlier when it seemed they had 14 for 107yds in ONE game :)

Oh, you forgot about about all the bad refs calls against US-the missed PI call on Owens, the BS helmet-helmet on Tank, the BS holding call on Procter, etc.

Why aren't you complaining about these?

Naturally, there will be a drop in production when a player of TO's caliber leaves. However, even without TO, the Cowboys moved the ball deep inside Carolina three times. Unfortunately, due to a turnover and the end of the half, Dallas only managed to convert one of those three opportunities into points.

Yep, every single week Norm focuses on things like this. After the GB game, it was how lucky we were that Miles had the PI called (when the GB defender obviously ran up the back of his legs).

And if we do win big, the focus is all on how terrible the other team is. "That's a baaaad football team over there... Very bad (nasaly laugh and gutteral snorts)!"

I think Mike Fisher had it right back when he had a show and column. He said that if the team is 1-15, about 15 to every 1 columns will be negative. If the team is 15-1, about 15 to every 1 columns will be positive. If the team is 8-8, about half the columns will be positive and half will be negative.

What we have now is a 13-2 team, and about 75% of the comments are negative. It makes no sense.

Norm waiting with bated breath for Cowboy demise? I doubt it. He has long been easily unnerved about such things. He might be right about the secondary. But offenses that are equipped to consistently exploit it are few and far between, IMO.

This defense definitely has holes. But it will be the pass rush which will need to be on point for this team to go far. We all realize as much. All that said, this defense has yielded 23 points over the last two weeks.
