You guys got lucky that David Robinson got hurt one year and it allowed you to get Tim Duncan.

And you won one of those championships during a shortened season.

So the players should have been even more rested ..... whats your point?

All teams have luck... some of it good, some of it bad. You just have to roll with the opportunities when they come.

Were the Mavs "lucky" that they were able to trade a turd draft pick in Tractor Traylor for a future hall-of-famer in Dirk? Where would the Mavs be today if they'd have kept their original pick? (well, they'd probably still have no championships, but they'd suck a lot worse)

I think the shortened season does have a small asterisk next to it (as all strike shortened seasons do), but I think that asterisk grew smaller and smaller with each subsequent championship the Spurs won... proving they were a team worthy being called "the best". You could also make an argument that the strike hurt the Spurs as a full season would have given a very young Tim Duncan more time to learn and develop.

In 1995, Cuban and fellow Indiana University alumnus Todd Wagner started Audionet, combining their mutual interest in college basketball and webcasting. With a single server and an ISDN line[22], Audionet became Broadcast.com in 1998. By 1999, Broadcast.com had grown to 330 employees and $13.5 million in revenue for the second quarter.[23] In 1999, during the Dot-com boom, Broadcast.com was acquired by Yahoo! for $5.9 billion in Yahoo! stock.

Hey . Ya MIGHT wanna reread your original post. Pay CLOSE attention to the bold parts in BOTH quotes.

good post.....

i find it rather comical how the same Cowboys fans that bash the Eagles, will sit there and make excuses for the Mavs....and even call out the best professional basketball team the state of Texas has ever produced.

Dont call the Spurs lucky...call me Lucky.....cause aside from the Astros and TAMU-CC Islanders, all of my favorite teams have won multiple championships. In fact, all of them are the best Texas team in their sport too, aside from the Penguins (my only non-Texas favorite team). Cowboys, Spurs, and Longhorns are far better than any other team in the state over the history of their existence. The Astros are better than the Rangers....as far as overall record goes, plus the Astros have at least played in the World Series (getting swept).....And even though both Texas baseball teams are nothing but giant turds....at least the Astros history doesn't smell quite as bad as the Rangers. As far as my Islanders go, the won the Southland Conference a few years ago, in their first season in the conference...and made it to March Madness, before bowing out to Wisconsin in the first round.

So call me lucky....afterall, instead of being born and raised in South Texas, I could have been born and raised in Cleveland:puke:

Won't happen. Next season's salary cap is projected to be $56.1 million. The Cavs are already at $66 million for next season which includes Lebron's $17 million player option which he obviously won't exercise, leaving them at $49 million. That would give the Cavs $7 million to sign a player but they could only do it BEFORE Lebron re-signs if he chooses to. No way Bosh or any other player his caliber is coming to Cleveland of all places for $7 million when they will be able to get a max contract elsewhere. Plus, a free agent would be stupid to sign with the Cavs with no assurance that Lebron would be back. Don't forget that every dollar over the salary cap is a one for one luxury tax so they'd have to pay that too.

At best the Cavs would re-sign Lebron and pick up a piece or two with the mid-level exception or bi-annual exception (assuming they have it). Or they could always try to pull off another salary cap-circumventing trade like they did with Ilgauskas/Jamison. Maybe then they can get out of the second round... Good to see that cheating got them nowhere.

Don't you actually have to win a Championship 1st in order to look forward to a dynasty?

You sound like a hater so your opinion means nothing.

Hickson,Jamison,Mo,Delonte and Eyenga will do it for Bosh and Calderon. Bosh has already commanded a sign and trade. The Raptors were etxremely high on Eyenga in the draft. They want to get rid of Calderons contract and AJ,Mo and Delonte have very few years till they expire. Not to mention Hickson and Eyenga costs next to nothing for a few more years.

The roster would be pretty depleted but you could fill that roster with D-leagers if you had LeBron and Bosh and still rattle off championships

Cuban goes public with quest for James

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nba/news/story?id=5205952

"Come July 1st, yeah, of course, anybody would be interested in LeBron James, and if he leaves via free agency, then it's going to be tough," Cuban said. "If he does like I'm guessing, hoping he will, which is say, 'I'm not going to leave the Cavs high and dry,' if he decides to leave -- there's still a better chance he stays -- then he'll try to force a sign-and-trade, and that gives us a chance."

Dallas' interest in pursuing a sign-and-trade deal for James has been the subject of speculation for months, but Cuban's comments are believed to be his first public acknowledgment of that plan.

LMAO @ Bosh doing a S+T to Cleveland. No big name free agent wants to go to the mos depressing city in america. Cleveland can't even get MLE guys to go there, but they can convince a star too? The cavs struck out on Villanueva, Artest, Ariza, Rasheed. Had to settle for Jamrio Moon, and Anthony Parker.

It will never happen.

I have no idea what message boards said in 1989(since they didn't exist) but I bet if they did they would say the same thing if Jordan ever got some legit superstar to join him.

And they would be right.

Haters in theee building!

if being a realist = being a hater....then I am a hater.

Cleveland sucks.....I dont care how many wins they get in the regular season, until they win a ring, they suck. LeChoke will continue to fail in the postseason, cause he doesn't have the stones to be a true leader of men.

Why did Jordan become so successful.........cause he was slighted in HS, he was slighted in college, and then he got injured early in the NBA...that made him angry at the world and he felt like he had something to prove....dont believe me, just listen to his HOF speech. He is still angry.

James has been coddled and handed everything since before his Prep School days. He has lived the silver platter lifestyle.....so he never learned early on how to deal with adversity. Because of this, his stones never grew enough to help him overcome those mountains that block his path.

Call me a hater all you want, but my boy Colt will win a ring for Cleveland before LeChoke does.

The fact that you compare Lebron to Michael Jordan shows anywon who knows anything about basketball all they need to be shown about your "opinion".
