Article on Poe that looks at his sacks against Dallas:
The first of Poe’s two sacks, which came with 6:25 left in the first quarter, took the Cowboys from second-and-9 at the Kansas City 28 to third-and-16 at the 35. Poe was going up against Dallas rookie center Travis Frederick, and Frederick got an Ivy League education on the value of a defensive lineman who understands the combination of agility and power.

At the snap, Poe took a step to his right, and Frederick followed him. Then, Poe shot quickly to his left, leaving Frederick off balance. From there, it was easy enough for Poe to use his estimable upper-body strength to rip Frederick out of the way, with a clear path to Tony Romo. Dallas learned from this play and started doubling Poe more often, ...

Looking at that first sack, hard to believe there are many C's in the league who have an answer for that move when it is executed so well

Poe is a beast. I can't even imagine a guy like that on our DLine in the middle of Ware, Hatcher and Spencer. Then again, its fun to try.

Technique.

Fred committed to Poe's first move too soon.

Yep. The next time he sees it, he'll be a little more prepared. The time after that, even more. Everyone gets beat from time to time, and a rookie will get beat more.

I was skeptical of Poe coming out. Basically had done nothing to warrant his pick other than have a nice combine.

Looks like he's progressing though.

It was a beautiful move. The second sack was more obviously a blown communication, because Frederick passes him off.

I was one of the few intrigued by Poe coming out, but it worked out for the best that we didn't draft him, as we moved the the 4-3 right after, anyway. Plus, we'd have missed out on the chance to move up for Claiborne, which I know everybody loves right about now.

I loved him.

But I also thought J.J. Watt was nothing more than a solid DE prospect so it's not like I'm bragging over here.

Here's a thought....If we had drafted Poe, maybe the 3-4 would have worked out

Perish the idea that having the appropriate personnel might be important to running a scheme effectively

There were real questions around Poe's productivity and the competition he faced in college but contrary to popular opinion, some of us did like Poe but were shouted down amidst the need for a 'game changer' like Claiborne and the idea that a true NT was not really needed for 'our version of the 3-4' since Rat was doing 'fine'

Frederick on Poe beating him: ‘I saw the thing in film that he did, and he did it better than he normally does.'

Frederick on run game: ‘I’m going to put it on myself mostly, just because I didn’t communicate as well as I could have. It starts there...’

Frederick: ‘I’m disappointed in my ability in the run game. I should be better in the run game and I should be a bigger part of it.’

Those are some great quotes.

It's only been two games rookie.

Love how he steps up and puts it on himself. He really didn't have a great game, he needs to step it up. I think he will bounce back just fine though. He won't be seeing someone with Poe's physical talent every week.

Yes but only if we start to see it in action. If we don't, then it's just words. I do feel though he will walk the talk as the season progresses.

As you should've been.

He had 2 things going for him though that would make you think that he could potentially become a good player though.

1. Great physical ability

2. High high effort guy

Thats always a good combo.

I still think he went a little high but it looks like their risk might've paid off.

I like Poe, sure wish he had ended up in Dallas. They had the opportunity.

Pretty cool that a dominant guy like that comes out of my little school.

Nobody's ever won a Super Bowl with a great quote. I hope he really does put forth the effort. I like this guy already and I hope he can be an anchor for years to come.

if we had drafted poe he would have been written off as a bust after last season
