Here's how you get Dak to remove his no trade clause

You draft a quarterback in the first round and you bench Dak.

It's pretty simple. I know the Jonses don't want to do that because it would imply they made a mistake, but knowing Dak, he's too proud to sit on the bench. He will eventually succumb to the fact that his career in Dallas is over. The NFL is a cold hearted business but the fact is Dak is one of the reasons this organization is in shambles.

1. Hire a head coach with a backbone

2. Empower that head coach

3. Draft a quarterback in the first round and move on.

No you let Dak play however many games he can play (fans on here are saying he's not going to finish a season ever again), when that happens, the backup QB steps in THEN he doesn't get his job back

They couldn't move Dak right now if he did drop it. He is in the first year of his new deal, the CAP hit would be enormous.
103 cap hit if traded pre June 1st. lol

42 dead this year, 61 mil dead next year if after June 1st.

Problem is even if he did drop the NTC, what team would want him/could make it work? His deal can be modified by the new team, but it's not like he's coming off a good year but needs a fresh start.

I think even if you trade him there would be over a $100 million of dead money. That ain't happening either. We are stuck with Dak for at least 2 years. After 2 years you can get out of the deal easier.

You don't need Dak to agree to being cut. Just cut him. Nobody is trading for him after what he just showed. Your option is to cut him.

But benching him is silly. He'd love to be on the bench and get paid. You guys have to come to grips Jerry and the Cowboys have no leverage.

Great topic for last year, but reality is even if Dak wanted out of Dallas the financials make it nearly impossible.
Funny thing is...we had a million of these threads last year lol....it had a much more realistic chance of happening then. Now? No chance. The minute they cut Dak is the time they rebuild and ship out their best players and see what they can get for them. Which they never would.

This is exactly the negotiating strategy I proposed before Jerry signed the deal to give Dak $60 million. Threaten to bench him if he didn't waive the no trade clause, then let him find a trade partner of his choice. Now that they signed him to the bloated contract, they will have to deal with him another year at least.

But if they do not restructure his deal, they can pull out this plan after the 2025 season. Then if they trade him to another team, they would actually get a #& million CAP save in 2026 and Dak would be off the books in 2027. This would be my plan if I was Jerry. And if Dak has another bad year, or is injured again, the Cowboys would already have prepared to move on from him.

But you just know Jerry is going to restructure Dak again and make it that much harder to use this strategy on Dak in 2026.

From Dak’s perspective, he would be the biggest fool to waive his position of power. Remember folks, always get your guarantees in writing and enforceable.

Throw some feelers out and see if some teams are desperate and then present it to Dak. Go from there.
